  2. There is only one advertising program called WordAds at WordPress.com and it’s for blogs on their own domains. This is the homepage for the WordAds program: http://www.wordads.co/ There you will find the application page as well as FAQs.

Aside from a blog being accepted into WordAds, no blogger initiated advertising, retailing or reselling the work or products created or services provided by anyone other than yourself is allowed on free hosted wordpress.com blogs. E-commerce transactions via shopping carts and the like cannot be conducted on free blogs from and being free hosted by wordpress.com

I'll save my personal commentary (rant) on how little bloggers make from advertising and how their expectations are not reality based for another time.

  3. I suggest, in line with your tagline, you focus on ways to save money and not to make a fortune in industries you've been in for less than one day.

  4. timethief - Thank You for your help.

raincoaster - I don't plan on making fortunes, that's why I have a real job. I just wanted something to do between classes when I'm not studying.

  5. As someone who's made a living from the internet for a decade now, I can tell you that just putting ads on a brand-new blog is not going to even cover hosting charges if you go self-hosted. You can apply for WordAds here, but there is a waiting list of over a thousand people, and WP.com has no incentive to approve people who don't have a lot of hits, since they get 50% of the cut.
