Can I post a comment and NOT use my Gravatar?

    My Gravatar is a photo of my daughter and me. I like it very much, and want to continue to use it on most of the blogs where I leave comments. However, one blog on which I would like to comment, which is a WordPress.com blog, has a rule against "personal photos" as avatars. I am trying to figure out a way to comment on this blog, without the photo of my daughter and me showing up as my avatar, while still being able to use that image on the other blogs I read. I contacted Gravatar, and their only suggestion was to create a new email address specifically to use when I comment on this one blog, and assign another Gravatar to it. That doesn't seem like a practical solution to me, especially if there are a lot of other readers of this blog who also have personal photos as their standard Gravatar.

    Is there another solution? Is there any way that I can comment on a WordPress.com blog and somehow tell it NOT to use my Gravatar?

    I did not specify the blog address because I am asking about a WordPress.com blog which I do not own -- I am asking a question about leaving a COMMENT on someone else's blog. However, I do know for certain that it is a WordPress.com blog. I'd prefer not to leave the url, since the content of the blog may be controversial (religion) and is irrelevant to my question.

    (Yes, I am aware that the above post is automated. I'm responding for the benefit of anyone who may be reading and waiting for me to post a link.)

    Make sure you are logged out of wordpress and then use a different email address than the one tied to your blog here. Gravatars are tied to our email address that we used to set up our blogs.

    What I am asking is if I can do this *without* having to create a whole new email address.

    No you cannot.

    Just go to gmail or yahoo and create a throw-away email address (keep the information and password just in case you ever want to use it though).

    As I said, gravatars are linked to the email address.

    No you can't. The email address we register our wordpress.com accounts and our gravatar accounts with is the unique identifier here at wordpress.com. Also note that we do not have access to the templates underlying our wordpress.com themes on this multiuser blogging platform so we cannot do this:

    It's simple. If you don't want my photo posted to your blog when I comment, remove the code on your site that grabs it from Gravatar!

    You can have no photo if you log out, but you can't substitute with a different gravatar unless you log in with a different account first.

    @udosero, it has to do with the email address. It doesn't matter if you are logged in or logged out, it has to do with the email address. Gravatars are linked to the email address, not whether you are logged in or logged out.

    Please do not answer questions if you don't actually know the answer. It will only confuse things.
