  1. Computer had a message saying it was about to crash and my entire post I was drafting disappeared. The photos are still in the library. But all the text and photos vanished.

  2. thanks, appreciate your advice. i did try "restoring" the last revisioned post, but it actually was only partially there because one-half of it had disappeared earlier in the day. And that's the one that saved ! Arggh If I go back further to restore a draft, the text has been dramatically revised. very nervous about all my posts now.

  5. If were using the "Add New" on the main page for wordpress.com here http://wordpress.com/#!/post/ then the draft is lost and cannot be recovered. That link is only for creating "Asides":

Aside – These are brief snippets of text that aren’t quite whole blog posts. Useful for quick thoughts and anecdotes

    Advice:
1.Create posts and pages on your own blog's dashboard.

    2. When you start a new post, add the title, set it to private and then publish it. When you are done with the post edit it to update it and set it back to publish.

    3. The other choice is to get and use an offline blog client such as Windows Live Writer (Windows) or Ecto (Mac) and then everything is saved on your computer and when you are done with the post, you actually publish it directly from the blog client software. See here for offline blog editors so you don't have to go through this again http://en.support.wordpress.com/xml-rpc

  6. It just happened again tonight after I hit "save draft." the whole thing vanished and I had to go back about 5 revisions until I could find anything "saved." Thanks timethief for your advice. PS I do create posts on my dashboard. I'm not sure I understand your #2 suggestion. If I set it to private and then publish it are you saying it wouldn't technically be published yet? Because if that would help (but it would still be editable in that "published/private" condition) then I will definitely try that.

  7. If you set it to private first and then edit and continue to complete it. When you are done editing you change the visibility to public and publish it.

  8. thanks for steering me to the "private" option. i never knew about that. I feel a bit more secure
