At the end of blog posts on my site, an automatically generated "Read more from..." link appears, which tries to match my blog categories with blog posts from external WordPress sites. I'm not keen on this, and am wondering if I can remove the "read more from" link. (I have the CSS and the "no ads" upgrade.)

Since you are using the traction premium theme, you need to head to the premium theme forum where staff and the theme designer provide support. That is actually what you are paying for with the premium theme.
I believe if you go to appearance > themes in your dashboard there is a link to premium theme support at the top where it shows which theme you are using.
