Can I schedule post

  1. I would like to write posts and have them appear later. Can I do that and just missed the instructions?

  2. I'm not sure, but I think that you can do this by using the modify timestamp option.

I'll try it the next time I'm posting something.

As you are composing a post, to the right is a box that says "Post Timestamp." In that box, check "Edit timestamp" and then put in the time you want your post to appear. The clock is a 24-hour clock.

Did this about a dozen times a few days ago and my scheduled posts didn't show up.

  6. Maybe you saved them in DRAFT status.

  7. Also remember that the time involved is the server time, not your local time.

That's not correct. If you've set the time properly in your user options, then the time on the timestamp is indeed your local time and not the server time.

whatever the case is re server/local times, it still doesn't work for me.

You still have to hit "Publish" instead of "Save." If you do that, it should work. Otherwise, drop the WP folks a feedback through your dashboard.

i tried the scheduled post once again, and i believe drmike is correct about the server time/local time issue. i live in GMT+8, and my scheduled post appeared after 8 hours (wp.com is GMT).

looks like a bug to me.

  12. I have tried and successfully scheduled a couple of posts in January/February. All I did was to edit the "Time Stamp". But now it didn't work anymore. I tried to schedule a post two days ago but it didn't appear.

    Why is this so?

Well, it depends if you've set the time. In your options tab on the dashboard, you can set your timezone. The default is GMT. That's probably why they are showing up ahead of time.

  14. If I schedule a post in the future (with the timestamp function), will this post get pinged out to technorati.com etc through the built in rpc-function at the time of the timestamp, or at the time when the post is published in the internal editor?

  15. Looks like timestamp. I'm using this blog as a mirror for my webcomic and the posts are showing up when they kick in over at Technorati.

    Hope this helps,

  16. So the posts gets pinged out on the date of the timestamp and not on the actual moment it is posted?

(sorry if I ask too much)

  17. They appear to ping out when they get exposed onto your site. At least mine show up that way.
