Can I transfer the URL of my old wordpress blog to my new wordpress blog?

  1. Both of my blogs are with WordPress.com. My previous blog has the custom URL I want to use. My new blog has the same URL with "wordpress.com" attached. I want to use the custom URL from my old blog for my new one.

The blog I need help with is colleenwatch.wordpress.com.

  2. What other URL are you referring to?

  3. colleenwatch.com

  4. Do you want to redirect colleenwatch.com to colleenwatch.wordpress.com ? If so, go to Store > Domains on your blog's dashboard and follow the steps there.

Please take a look at the following guide before going through the process.

  5. No, I simply want to swap my URLs.

  6. Could you please explain that in a bit more detail? Looking forward to your reply.

  7. My old WordPress blog had the URL "colleenwatch.com" which I leased from go daddy.
I still own that URL. I now have a new WordPress blog with the URL "colleenwatch.wordpress.com."
I want my new blog to have the URL "colleenwatch.com"
I want to keep my old blog, but don't care if I have to give it a ****.wordpress.com name.
So I want to "switch them." Does that help?
    And thank you.

  8. You can go to Store > Domains on your blog's dashboard and follow the steps there.

  9. I can tell you know your business inside and out, but I'm a bit frustrated by your response. I already own it and am using it with WordPress. Why should i have to pay another $13 to get the same thing I already have on another WordPress blog?! Why can't you just map it for me? Is there anyone else you know of who might be willing to approve/do what I'm asking? Thank you for your patience.

  10. Mapping a domain to your free WordPress.com costs $13 per year. There are no restrictions if you setup a self-hosted WordPress.org blog instead of a WordPress.com blog, but there are some added responsibilities. We have hosting recommendations at the following link if you are interested.
