Can I use an external file as my hompage if I buy the custom CSS upgrade?

  1. I created a homepage I'd like to use on the hootnhowlfarm.com website with a template from another website. Can I do that if I buy the custom CSS upgrade. The homepage is a .html file.

The blog I need help with is hootnhowlfarm.com.

  2. No.

  3. Please read this:

    Before Upgrading
The Domain Mapping Upgrade does not enable the permission to use advertising, any kind of prohibited code, or upload additional themes and plugins. With the upgrade, your blog will still be hosted here at WordPress.com, which means that you will not have FTP access to your files and must still abide by our Terms of Service accordingly. http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/ http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/

  4. Then read this:
Does the CSS upgrade let me edit HTML? - NO
Does the CSS upgrade let me upload my own theme? - NO
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-css/

  5. We cannot add themes at wordpress.COM, we are limited to the themes found in the dashboard under appearance > themes. Themes found on the internet are for self-hosted wordpress blogs using the software from wordpress.ORG and we cannot use them on wordpress.com blogs.

  6. Provided you have CSS editing experience, you can get the paid custom CSS upgrade and renew it annually. It will allow you to stylize the appearance of themes you find here > Appearance > Themes, but it does not allow you to change the functionality, by editing the underlying template. Also note that CSS is theme specific, so you cannot use the CSS stylesheets from other themes with the themes here at wordpress.COM.

If you think that purchasing a CSS upgrade amounts to getting Volunteers or Staff to do that work for you - think again. Since there is no official support for the CSS upgrade, I recommend that you don’t buy the upgrade unless you have at least moderate understanding of HTML and CSS because you must be prepared to do the work on your own.

If you are considering purchasing the upgrade, you can go to Appearance > Edit CSS. There wordpress has provided a preview function where you can try before you buy.
