Can not access my about page

  1. I keep getting a server error when I click on any link to my "about" page be it on the blog or in my dash board. Here is the link to the page:

My other page works. I'm not sure what I may have done.

    Anyone got any ideas?

    Here's what the error says:
"Server Error The website encountered an error while retrieving http://schadenfreudecomic.wordpress.com/about/. It may be down for maintenance or configured incorrectly."

The blog I need help with is schadenfreudecomic.wordpress.com.

  2. This error pops up in the following browsers:
    Firefox, Google Chrome, Safari

  3. I can't get it to load at all. All I get is a blank page so I'll tag this thread for Staff assistance. Please subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting.

  4. Thanks

  5. Hi there,

I tried adding a page on a test blog using the information from your page, and lo: I get the same exact error. So I started at the bottom, and removing the images makes the page re-appear.

Could you try removing the images from your page and then re-adding them through the Add Media button one more time and see what happens?

    Cheers!

  6. Well I started the process you suggested. As soon as I hit the update button after reading the image via the Add Media button I received the following error:

"The website encountered an error while retrieving http://schadenfreudecomic.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post.php. It may be down for maintenance or configured incorrectly."

I have a hunch that spacing might be an issue with the template I am using. I shall try again placing the image differently.

  7. Ok so my hunch didn't get me very far. I got the same error message again.

I'm going to attempt this on a new page.

  8. It seems that the pages are not able to support the use of any kind of image... which is kinda odd. I don't remember the template saying anything about that kind of restriction.

    Any ideas?

  9. This error seems to have become more of an issue with my blog. I can't post any images even if I am making a new post. An error like the others appears now when I attempt to do so:

    "Server error
The website encountered an error while retrieving http://schadenfreudecomic.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post.php. It may be down for maintenance or configured incorrectly."

  10. This is prohibiting me from posting new updates to my comic...

  11. I'm going to try this out on firefox and safari to see if this is just a Google Chrome issue. I have a sicking feeling that this is a wordPress issue, and that changing my browser will not solve the error.

  12. This error is occurring in all of the above bowers and on all of my new posts or pages. An example is the following:

    http://schadenfreudecomic.wordpress.com/2013/02/08/ancient-history/

Even when using old images that I have already posted I get the Following error:

    "Server error
The website encountered an error while retrieving http://schadenfreudecomic.wordpress.com/2013/02/08/ancient-history/. It may be down for maintenance or configured incorrectly."

  13. I'm so sorry this is happening to you. I'm sure Staff will respond to you as soon as possible.

  14. I have changed the date of the post which is linked to above so that any followers to the comic don't get an error message when they go to see if its been updated.

  15. I hope they will timethief. I'd hate to have to leave WordPress for another blogging site when this one was working so well.

  16. Staff are extremely busy but many bloggers don't get that because they think all Staff do is answer threads here on this forum but that's not the case at all. I tagged this thread again and that's the most I can do for you.

  17. Thanks again

  18. Hi again,

I checked the size of the image, and it's super, super big. I saw it at 600dpi and 10x14 inches. When I tried with a version sized to 96dpi, it worked great on my test blog!

Could you try resizing the image to a max of 150dpi (resolution) and see if you can get better results?

  19. I had the same problem after upgrading to a Premium Theme recently. I reverted to old theme. Now my latest post not showing on other sites. Can anyone tell me why? Do I need to do anything or is it just a technical glitch?

  20. Zndyring, if that was the case then my other smaller images that I have already posted should also be able to be reposted. I can't post any image of any size.

And Beekim, if your not paying for a Premium account you can't use the Premium Themes... If you are then I can't help you with that one...

  21. It would have been awesome if the fix was that easy... sadly it wasn't :(

  22. As far as I know the theme I'm using isn't a Premium, at least it wasn't when I first added it to my account.
If it has been switched over to a Premium with out my knowledge, which is very likely for I'm not too withit when it comes to blogging, then that might be the problem...

I'd hate to have to give up this theme its taken me a few months to find a freebee that works in the way this one does.

  23. Schadenfreudecomic,

I created a draft post with the smaller image (as one to test your media uploader) and I was able to upload ok.

So is the issue just with re-using images, or are you not able to upload, either? Thank you for the clarification!

    Bee Kim,

Switching from a premium theme to a non-premium theme shouldn't make one of your posts vanish. You don't need to have a premium account to purchase a premium theme, by the way. Can you link me to your blog so I can take a closer look?

    Cheers!

  24. Thank you you draft worked. Apparently I'll have to keep track on my images sizes.

I was experiencing a short period of time where I couldn't repost any image that was already in my media library. But it seems to be working now.

No sure what changed but if it works now no reason to worry abou it.

    Thanks again.

  25. I spoke to soon..
I am still getting an error message when posting, the same that has been mentioned above. But when I reload the page the post seems to work. Don't know whats causing the error message and as long as it doesn't keep me from posting I'm not too worried abou it.

  26. You may need to clear your cache out. Here is more information about how to do that:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/

Seeing the error and then being able to refresh past it sounds a lot like it's just a caching issue.

  27. I cleaned out the cache as you directed but the error is still there. I can still post but I have to refresh after hitting the update button. Once I hit that button with any images in my post or page I get the same error mentioned above. If I refresh the page it does carry out the action of updating. still confused, but I glad that its working at lest.

  28. That is odd - can you try using a different browser temporarily to see if you get the same thing?

  29. will do

  30. In Safari it goes to a blank page after hitting the post or update button. I then have to open wordpress in a different tab to see the changes, but the changes do occur.

I'll check firefox next its the only other browser I have beside Google chrome which I use for all of my wordpress activity.

Just a thought, I am using a Mac. Would that have any effect?
