can readers post video on any wordpress theme?

  1. Hi - I am not writing about my already existing blog, which is attached to my ecommerce site.

I want to create a new site - this would be a non-profit/cause type of site, not selling anything (I don't think) meant to raise awareness (not money) about a particular issue.

The concept is similar to the "It Gets Better" project, where individuals are invited to post their own experiences regarding a particular topic. It can be written, it can be an image of them holding a sign or whatever, or it can be a video testimonial. The content should be primarily submitted by the users, not by me.

    I like the "Blocco" theme.

However, I'm not sure (and you can't get support until after you buy and upgrade apparently) if WordPress sites even offer that functionality.

Again, it's not meant to be just a comment thread - but an open forum for all kinds of posts - video, photo, text.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated. I think this project could be very helpful once it gets off the ground.

The blog I need help with is wegotthebeats.wordpress.com.

No, that is not possible on a free hosted WordPress.com blog. And it's not a theme related issue at all.

Stop and think about what are proposing please. Our reality is that the vast and overwhelming majority of all so-called information on the internet is spam and porno. If it were possible for anyone with internet access to post to your blog then it would be filled with porno videos, spam and other disgusting crap in no time flat.

If you’d like to invite others to publish posts or help approve comments on your blog, you can invite them to be a Contributor, Editor, or Author.

Oh dear, those blockquotes were misplaced and the bold lettering was unintended. I'm sorry will you please assist with a clean-up?

  4. Thanks for your reply.

I didn't mean they wouldn't have to be approved first.

So is there a way they can submit videos and images to my site pending approval on wordpress, free or otherwise?

Again, I'm looking for a similar experience to the "it gets better" site. I'm probably not allowed to post a link for that here.

  5. They can post YouTube videos in the comments of any theme here, as long as they post them on a single line.

Of course you're allowed to link to a site you're using as an example.

That site is very, very expensive. What you're asking for is very, very expensive. The ICanHasCheezburger network pays, I believe, $2600 per month for each of their sites, which are VIP WordPress.com sites.

If you want a workaround, use the Contact form and that will send an email to you of whatever people put in there. They can't embed videos or images at all, but can link to them if they're hosted elsewhere, like YouTube or Dropbox.
