can "search" return just titles?

  1. Can I edit the settings somehow so that when someone uses the "search" widget on my sidebar, the results are listed just by post titles, rather than showing all the full posts that contain their request? And/or is there a way to either randomize the results or sort them by relevance, rather than them being listed chronologically? I really appreciate any help.

The blog I need help with is groo.wordpress.com.

  2. Search works differently in different themes. Some will show only titles, some will show excerpts, some will show the whole post. There's no way to sort them, though. Sorry.

  3. Does that mean that you could edit the theme of your choice to return just titles? Or, is there a way to search/sort through possible themes by how they list search returns?

  4. Sorry - I should have given more information. Here is the blog I'm referring to:

    http://groo.wordpress.com/

It's (obviously) a wordpress.com blog... Is this thing I'm trying to do perhaps only possible if I switch to a self-hosted wordpress blog using wordpress.org? Thanks for any suggestions.
