I've decided that my blog really ought to have a title which reflects how a lot of the content is about screenwriting. Can I retitle it and change its domain name - or do I have to start over again? Also, would changing the domain name result in me losing my backlinks?

You can change your blog address using the steps at the link below:

If you only want to change the site title, you can do that also:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/general-settings/#changing-your-site-title-and-tagline
If you do change your blog address, permalinks to your old address, including search engine results, will be broken unless you purchase a Site Redirect upgrade.
