Canceling and Refund over the holiday break

  1. I want to cancel my Word press account and receive a refund but it says Support doesn't return until Jan. 3rd and today is the end of the '2 day Refund Period'. I just need to find a way to get this canceled asap. Thanks. :)

    The blog I need help with is talkinaroundtown.com.

    You're welcome to keep your domain with us and update the nameservers to point to your hosting provider by following this guide: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/domain-management/#update-nameservers

    After 60 days from the date of purchase, renewal, or nameserver change, you may also transfer your domain to another registrar: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/domain-management/#transfer-to-another-registrar

    We can also cancel your domain for you, but it won't be available for purchase again for about a month, at which time it will be back on the open market.

    Please let us know how you'd like to proceed!

    Cancel Domain
    You may completely cancel a domain name purchased through WordPress.com if you notify us within two days of purchase. The domain may take up to 5 business days to be returned to the public so someone can register it again. If you cancel a domain name registration after two days, you will not be able to keep ownership of the domain name or register it somewhere else.

    Use Other Web Hosting
    The Name Servers for your domain control where traffic for the domain goes. If your domain was registered through WordPress.com, you may change the Name Servers to point to another web hosting provider at any time. Please see the Update Name Servers section of the Domain Management help page for detailed instructions.

    Transfer a to Another Registrar
    If you would like to completely transfer your domain to another registrar, you must wait 60 days from the original purchase date. This is standard across all registrars. It is a rule set by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN).   6. yes, i had found that...my problem is that i want to cancal completely and cant find a link to enable me to do it...the link given above seems to be for a transfer... maybe it is that i dont understand the difference

  8. @xscafe - did you buy anything like an upgrade you want a refund for or do you want a refund when you spent no money? -

    Or did you just do a One Post blog 4 hours ago? If the later just walk away - set the blog to private or just delete your post and wander down the internet tubes - you can delete the blog but then the URL (name) can never be used again even by you so we advise against the cancel because you then can't change your mind.

  9. did the 1 post thing yes....but my head cant get round the domain names i seem to have bought...it said i can get a refund back if i contact within 48 hrs...i want to take a step back, reorganise myself and start again...i get a message that all is closed til jan 3 which of course is outside the 48 hr limit...so like talkingaroundtown i wish to regroup before restarting

  10. @xscafe - this thread is already flagged for the staff to look at - you should also be able to contact the staff through your dashboard - if you post the Domain you bought it will help the staff to quickly sort things out - they are dropping by the Forum over the break and helping people -

  17. I would like to cancel my entire purchase made today as well. Please contact me when that is completed. I purchased a domain and something else (not sure of specific titles) all totaling $25. I would like all items canceled and refunded. I am wanting to register and purchase through wordpress.ORG.... Is it possible to transfer it or do I need to just get a refund, wait until it's available again, and purchase directly through wordpress.ORG?

    I looked into things and I see there is no way to transfer... So I would like it all canceled and refunded ;)

I am getting a message that support is closed for the holidays, however I must notify WP of my intent to cancel within 48 hours. How am I suppose to do that when I can't get in touch with anyone until Jan 3rd? Please advise. I want ths canceled asap.

  28. Hi, I have just purchased a domain called pianofingers.org, but I am having difficulties getting to the site, since Google Chrome can't find it when I type in http://www.pianofingers.org. Can you check what has happened? If there is a glitch, I would like to cancel my domain.

  29. It looks like you just bought the domain a few hours ago and the name-servers point to WordPress.com. Did you also purchase the Domain Mapping upgrade to point pianofingers to an existing WordPress.com site?

    The site linked to your name has been deleted by you - we need the name of the blog you are trying to map to beginning with http to help us help you.

  30. PS - it can take 24 to 72 hours for the changes to fully take effect.
