Hi! Some hours ago I registered at wordpress.com and purchased an upgrade that includes registering and mapping a domain. Since then I decided that I would like to move to wordpress.org using Bluehost. I purchased the hosting, updated the nameservers but can't find how to cancel the domain mapping. The "Request a refund for Domain Mapping" link redirects to a domain cancellation and that is not what I need...
The blog I need help with is arlievsky.wordpress.com.
Domain Mapping is part of our our registration fee. The two cannot be refunded separately.
OK. But I still need to cancel the mapping, or not? Otherwise I can't use this domain without redirecting to wordpress.com
So how do I do it?
Not really, you just need to point your domain to your new hosting provider by changing the nameservers: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/domain-management/#update-nameservers
I already did it yesterday, but when I type arlievsky.com I automatically redirected to http://arlievsky.wordpress.com/ !!! I can't reach arlievsky.com
If I put http://arlievsky.com into my browser I get your self-hosted site on bluehost. Changes to the nameservers can take up to 72 hours to propagate throughout the internet (although typically much less) and how soon you will see the change is entirely dependent on how often your ISP refreshes their nameserver caches. Some do it often and some do not.
Everything is set right and working, it just might be a little longer before you see the change.
You might try shutting down your computer and then starting it up again. Computers also cache nameserver information, so it could be that your computer has not refreshed its cache.
Looks strange... On my mobile I also get to self-hosted site, but not on my PC :(
Restarting didn't help, also flushed DNS, but the problem stands still...
Has it been 72 hours since you changed the nameservers? We have no control over how soon each ISP refreshes their various DNS caches.
