I am trying to upload photos into my gallery, and cropping should be easy, but the 'crop' option is not highlighted and never works for me. Is there a trick to this? Thanks so much to anyone who can help!

If the option is not highlighted then you probably have a browser issue. But setting that aside I never rely on the cropper as foing so resluts in a loss of image quality. If you want better image quality use an image editing application to re-size copies of your images to the specific dimensions required then upload and insert those copies.
