Cannot add a link to my blog post

This just started yesterday...was previously working ok.

I can no longer add a link to the text I've entered on my blog post.
When I attempt to do so...a box opens and informs me I am leaving the edit area of the post and will
lose any revisions I've made to the post I'm editing.

    How can I fix this?

    Thanks!

The blog I need help with is north27worshipcenter.wordpress.com.

  2. I am also experiencing the same problem, although I don't always get the "leaving the edit..." message. After pasting in the link and clicking Update, I'm thrown into the list of posts and link is not created.

  3. Please try these browser troubleshooting tips. If you browser is outdated you can upgrade any browser version here.

  4. Same problem here, even after clearing my cache and deleting cookies.

I'm using the latest version of Adobe Flash Player with IE8 (cannot update to IE9 because I have XP).

    Thanks for your help!

  5. @jamarattigan
I'm on XP too and never use IE8 as it's not as good a browser as Firefox is. Would you like to try Firefox or Opera?

why would all of our browsers suddenly become outdated overnight?

  7. We aren't sure this is a browser issue. To expedite receiving an answer you can include the answers to all these questions below in your support ticket that you file with Staff. Here’s the link http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/ After you use the searchbox, under the search results, at the bottom of the page there will be a section that says “Have you found the answer to your question?” You can choose either “Yes I found the answer to my question.” or “No I didn’t find the answer to my question and I would like to contact support for help.” The no option will reveal the contact form.

    1. Please state what operating system you have and whether or not it has been recently updated.
2.Please do the same with regard to any security and/or firewalls updates you have had recently.
3.Please be specific by telling us exactly which browser and version of it you are using.
    4. Have you tried another browser? If so which one and which version?
    5. You can use this link to see if your Flash is up to date. If it’s not up to date then this is where to download and install the latest version of Flash.
    6. The way you connect to the internet (mobile, satellite, DSL, dial-up) and to your blog, and how many proxy server jumps etc. it takes to connect can cause problems. There maybe be problems with your ISP and/or with the proxy servers. How are you connecting to the internet and to WordPress.com?
    7. Is this the only site you are having trouble on?
    8. When did the trouble begin?
    9. Please provide a very clear description of the problem you are experiencing.

  8. Thanks. I appreciate you sharing the fact that switching from IE9 to using Google Chrome resolved your issue.

  9. You are welcome! Some thinks are just unexplicable some days. :)

Same problem with me. IE 7 and can't add the links, so since others are having the same problem, with different browsers it's not us then. I can add the links after creating them at another forum site, then c & p them over. But that is annoying, and takes a lot of extra time. I can't change browsers as my puter freezes up when I do.

Also,, can't use the html feature to add them manually either, and can't contact support as when I click the button nothing happens.....

  11. Same here

  12. Me too. Why has this suddenly affected so many?

  13. I don't know. and no matter, I won't change browsers as each time I try, I have problems too, of pages freezing. there was a problem a few months ago too, and it was corrected....

  14. I hope it sorts itself out pretty soon. Without links I'm up s*** creek.

  15. Hello there,
If you think this is going to magically clear up then I don't hold that opinion. IE7 is an outdated browser newsdeskinternational. Please upgrade it because you will likely be experiencing continual problems if you don't. north27worshipcenter, lauravar, embracingtheinsanity, janet056 and pekepenguin you have not provided any information so we have nothing to go on.

I am using Explorer 7 (and have never had issues) but I'm going to try Google Chrome. I couldn't contact support either as the button won't work. This is really strange!

I installed the Google Chrome browser and I can now add links again...THANKS for all the quick responses and help!! I will also try installing the latest Flash program as well as I really do not care for the minimal features of Google Chrome. Thanks again everyone.

  20. Unfortunately trying to upgrade browsers freezes my computer, and in all the years on the net, I've never upgraded, no problems with sites, until the computer wore out. I've had this problem with wordpress before, and they corrected it in a matter of days. So it's not us, it's them, as they may be upgrading....

  21. And on back reading, I see it's not just ie7.....

  22. Sometimes we hang on to old things, and sometimes we must let them go:
I have a perfectly good Mac daisy computer, running OS9, with IE 4 (??) installed, but I'm not waiting for WordPress to update their software to work with that outdated browser…
It's still here because there is one program I use which has never updated to more modern operating systems, but I do know that it is out of date.
I also collect old lace table cloths, appliqued luncheon napkins, and uranium crystal but I don't expect any of those things to function as a part of everyday use.

Updating a browser is not a WordPress issue. Do you have a firewall set up which won't allow you to update?

  23. I went to suport, and the message there says they are working on the system, and will reopen it on Monday.... As for my browser, things work fine everywhere else, even at wordpress.org blogs, I can insert links, so they are just working on things for now.

  24. Yes, staff is closed this weekend.

    Try this:

I'm so happy you have resolved your issues. Best wishes with your blogging.

    @janet056
I'm sad to hear you have not found a solution. I cannot fathom why you computer would "freeze" when you try to upgrade your browser. What I do know is that WordPress.com is on continuous roll-out and new code is being added every day to upgrade the system. What was made clear by Staff in this post is that they do expect us to upgrade our browsers. WordPress.com is not "frozen in time". A browser is a tool that displays web content and if we intend to blog then we must upgrade our tools or expect less than perfect behavior.

  26. No problem, I found a way around it posting the links. I can load them in my forum site, and then paste them in the blog. Works fine until all the work is done.

  27. I am using IE9 and I am having the same linking problem that others are. I hate to load another browser on my computer and change favourites etc. I take it that wordpress is hoping to have this fixed on Monday, or should I just start loading Chrome on my computer? Thx for your help. This little forum has been very helpful. I did all the thing timethief suggested (and thank you for all the good ideas) but I'm afraid they didn't work. It appears wordpress has changed something and has caused a problem for IE users. Am I wrong in thinking this?

    cheers

    ken gray

  28. That's a weird workaround but I'm so glad to hear it's working for you. Whew! :)

  29. @kengray20
I'm so sorry I was unable to help you. :(
