Cannot delete page.

  1. I am going to go to another improved site and want to delete the one I have at present. I had a custom domain and was informed I could not delete one with a custom domain. I waited for it to expire and tried again, but still could not delete. The error message I received said make it private first. I tried to make it private but it would not allow me to do it. Now I have an updated site and I am stuck with a dinosaur. How do I get rid of it.

The blog I need help with is papatomsinquiry.com.

  2. As I am not clear what this is all about I'll tag this thread for a Staff follow-up. Please subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting.

  3. Thank you.

  4. From what I can tell you are domain mapping from http://tommysimpson.wordpress.com to http://papatomsinquiry.com/

You must be logged in as Admin http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administrator under the exact same username account that registered the blog and purchased the domain mapping upgrade to access the blog's dashboard and cancel at > Store > My Upgrades and disable autorenew.

As cancelling (or not renewing) a domain means that you give up ownership of that domain name completely and there's no guarantee that you will be able to register that domain again in the future, either here at WordPress.com or with another registrar, I tagged this for Staff help.

  5. It looks like you own tommysimpson.wordpress.com with a custom domain, papatomsinquiry.com that expires on September 29, 2014.

Is your goal to move your site to a different hosting provider and use papatomsinquiry.com as the domain there? If so, you have two options.

    1) You can point the domain to your new hosting and keep it registered here. You will need to keep tommysimpson.wordpress.com active so you can manage the domain, but you can set the site itself to be private so no one can see it.

    2) You can transfer the domain papatomsinquiry.com to a new registrar and then, once that has been completed, you can delete your WordPress.com site. (Please note that we are currently experiencing a temporary glitch with our transfer process and are working with our domain registrar partner to sort that out.)

If you have no interest in continuing to use papatomsinquiry.com here or elsewhere, I can cancel the domain for you and remove it from your site, which will free you to delete tommysimpson.wordpress.com. Please note that once a domain has been cancelled, it may not be available to register again later.

  6. Sorry about being so long getting back to you, I was out in the wilds. I would appreciate it if you would cancel the domain.

  7. I have cancelled your domain papatomsinquiry.com. You can now delete your WordPress.com site by following the instructions here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/delete-site/

  8. Thank you.

  9. You're welcome.
