Cannot figure out how to write in Spanish

  1. I would like my blog interface to be in English, but when I post something, I want to write in both English and Spanish. If I have a Spanish word in my post I want the accent marks to show, the letter n (with the ~ on top), I want to be able to write questions and exclamations with the upside down question mark and exclamation marks, etc. In other words, I want to be able to write Spanish words as they are truly written. I've tried changing the language on the blog and on the interface and nothing seems to work. What am I doing wrong? I am new to this. Thanks so much for any advice you can give

The blog I need help with is mrsmangu.wordpress.com.

  2. On Macs one can change the language you use in various programs (including in browers). System Preferences —> Personal —> International —> choose languages.

I'm guessing there is an equivalent on Windows operating systems??

  3. Also on Macs (and I'm guessing there is an equivalent function on other operating systems), you can use the option key plus (usually) a vowel to add accent marks:
    å é á é í ó ú î â ê ô û etc… ¿?

  4. ¡hola! On the iPad go to Settings General International. On the Mac use System Preferences language&Text. Then type away with your text processor and cut and past into your blog. Works for me, but I prefer Ms Word language settings.
    Good Luck.

  5. Thanks for your responses so far. I have a PC, not a MAc.
Cartoslaibrary - (again, I'm new to this so please bare with
me)...are you saying that I should type my posts in Word and
then cut/paste? I don't have an iPad. I have tried, in
wordpress.com, to change both my blog language (but that makes
everything in the blog Spanish, which I don't want), and
also changing the interface language to Spanish, but that
doesn't seem to be doing it either. Do most people just
cut and paste? It seems like I'd be doing twice the amount
of work then - maybe I'm just misundertanding.

  6. PC people, come forward here!

I'm a Mac user too, but I just googled "windows diacritical marks" and got some hits that look helpful, including the ones below. Windows has key commands similar to the Mac --- typically on a PC it seems you type Control and then a certain key to get the mark, like a particular accent mark, and the cursor stays put and then you type the letter. é like that
