CANNOT FIND DOMAIN ADMINISTRATION

  1. Where is the domain administration? Please do not refer me to the page that tells me to find the domain administration in the store under domains because that is why I am asking where it is. Just a straight forward answer would be great.

The blog I need help with is elohime5.wordpress.com.

  2. What is the URL of the domain in question starting with http:// please?

  3. Unless you have purchased domains through the store, you will not have access to domain administration. The site you listed, elohime5.wordpress.com is not currently mapped to any domain.

  4. This is not a free hosted WordPress.com blog http://cityonahill.weebly.com/ It's weebly site and we don not provide support for it here at WordPress.com

  5. I didn't add the elohime5.wordpress.com to my question it was added on automatically. I have a wordpress blog and need to know where the domain administration is, does it really need to be this hard? Just tell me where it is!

  6. eloime5: what is the domain that you are trying to administer? Where the administration is depends on how it is set up.

  7. @elohime5
I did not refer to elohime5.wordpress.com

I said: This is not a free hosted WordPress.com blog http://cityonahill.weebly.com/ It's weebly site and we don not provide support for it here at WordPress.com

Please post the URL starting with http:// to the blog in question if it isn't http://cityonahill.weebly.com/

  8. timethief I am not saying you were referring to elohime5.wordpress.com, that was andrewcpht. I am not referring to either elohime5.wordpress.com or to the weebly site. You don't need to know what my site is, I just need to know where the domain administration is! PLEASE!

  9. You specify that we cannot post a link to the domain information you need. Then you state you will not provide the URL. Well if you do not provide the URL we cannot help you.

  10. elohime5: we are asking for information in order to help you. As I said, in order for us to help you determine how to administer the domain, we do need to know which domain is involved. We are volunteers who do not have access to your account.

If you are unable or unwilling to provide us with the information we have asked for, we are unable to help you.

  11. Sorry for getting impatient. This shouldn't be this hard. The transfer domain instructions say to find the Domain Administration.

So, I'm not asking for a link to my domain info, I already have that. I am asking you to tell me where to find "Domain Administration" .

Please do not refer me to the page that tells me to find the domain administration in the store under domains because it is not there.

  12. Did you register the domain with WordPress.com or with another registrar (such as godaddy or namecheap)? If it's registered with WordPress.com, the page you're referring to is correct. If it is registered with another registrar, you access the domain administration through that company's website.

  13. The wordpress blog I started is registered at wordpress and I am going to move it elsewhere and just need to know where to find the Domain Admin option but when I go to Store and Domains there is no option for Domain Administration. How is that correct?

  14. There are no domain registrations under your account. What domain name are you referring to?

  15. Just to be clear, when we talk about a domain, we are referring to something like "yourname.com", not "yourname.wordpress.com" when we say domain, right?

If the domain was registered with WordPress.com, and you are logged into the same username as when you registered it, you should see it there. The fact that you do not tells me one of those things isn't true.

  16. No thank you macmanx. I am not starting over again with you. Thank you.

  17. Until you provide the URL starting with http:// we cannot be of any specific help to you.

when I go to Store and Domains there is no option for Domain Administration. How is that correct?

You must be logged in under the exact same username account that registered any blog who is the Admin of the blog and who purchased the upgrade to access it.

Clicking this link should display all your blogs registered under the same username, including the hidden ones: https://dashboard.wordpress.com/wp-admin/index.php?page=my-blogs&show=hidden

If you do not see the blog here http://en.support.wordpress.com/my-blogs/ then
    follow this guide > http://en.support.wordpress.com/my-blogs/#my-blogs-dashboard-visibility

If you have lost your log-in information you can visit https://en.wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword

If you’ve registered your domain through WordPress.com and now want it to point to a blog or website hosted elsewhere then you can do this by updating the nameservers.

  18. elohime: macmanx is a staff member for WordPress.com and Automattic. He is the best person to help you if you will not accept help from either of us.

  19. elohime5, there are no domain registrations under your account, so as far as I know, you're trying to transfer nothing.

If you can't tell me what domain name you're trying to transfer, I can't help you.

  20. any blog who is the Admin of the blog and who purchased the upgrade to access it.

Why couldn't you just say I have to have purchased an upgrade to begin with.

    Thank you

  21. Because you need to own a domain before you can administrate it. ;)

  22. @elohime5

Why couldn't you just say I have to have purchased an upgrade to begin with.

If you had answered me above I would have provided the relevant information more quickly. I said:

Please post the URL starting with http:// to the blog in question if it isn't http://cityonahill.weebly.com/

i'm actually having the same problem. It's telling me there is a problem with the DNS and to go to domain administration. I follow the steps under store -> domains and it's not there.

    and i own melaniecolosimo.com

  25. Hi Melanie. Have you already purchased the Domain addon by going to Dashboard -> Store -> Domains?

If so, can you please let us know the exact error you are receiving?

  26. @melaniecolosimo
Although melaniecolosimo.com has been registered, it is not using WordPress.com nameservers. If your domain is mapped to a self-hosted site, then your configuration may be fine as currently set up. If you wish to host your site at WordPress.com, you will need to update your nameservers as outlined here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/#instructions-for-mapping-an-existing-domain

After you make the domain mapping purchase here > Dashboard > Store > My Upgrades and do the set up it can take between 24 - 72 hours for domain name propagation to take place throughout the internet. You can view the DNS changes here > http://www.whatsmydns.net/ What's important during that stage is to be patient.

  27. @timethief I ran a whois both at WHOIS.com and and Godaddy.com, and both of them show the nameservers set to the ns1.wordpress.com and ns2.wordpress.com, which is correct.

The guide also lists ns3.wordpress.com. Is that required for the Domain addon to recognize that the domain is pointed to wordpress.com?

I know it's not using WordPress.com nameservers. I'm not sure how that happened. I purchased my .com through wordpress then purchased a redirect to send to my weebly site. The error I am receiving is:

"DNS Needs to be updated" in red. I click on it and get:

"Your nameservers need to be set to NS1.WORDPRESS.COM and NS2.WORDPRESS.COM for these DNS records to work. If you have already updated the nameservers you can ignore this message; it will stop appearing soon."

I am trying to get to the domain administration page to fix the name servers but I can't find it. I click on domains under store and then i'm stuck on adding a domain or updating.

When i first purchased the redirect everything was working great for about a month. It's only recently that I noticed that it's not working.

I know what I need to do. I just can't get to it!

  30. I've tagged this thread so a Staff member can take a look at your account. I see that the domain was registered through Wild West domains, which is the registrar that WordPress.com uses to register domains.
