Cannot find the Appearance tab

  1. For the most curious reason, I cannot find the appearance tab on my wordpress. I am taking over the management of a website from someone else. I have the admin account login information, however, the Appearance tab is not visible, and I cannot figure out how to make it become visible. I am trying to edit my themes, but since this is located underneath the appearance tab... I cannot.

  2. You did not specify a blog address or reason for posting when you created this topic.

This support forum is for blogs hosted at WordPress.com. If your question is about a self-hosted WordPress blog then you'll find help at the WordPress.org forums.

If you don't understand the difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.org, you may find this information helpful.

If you forgot to include a link to your blog, you can reply and include it below. It'll help people to answer your question.

    This is an automated message.

  3. You must be logged in as Admin under the exact same username account that registered the blog to access the Appearance tab and change themes.
    Dashboard > Appearance > Themes

  4. So there's something special about the account that registered the blog, beyond just a regular admin?

  5. Yes indeed there is. The sole owner of any blog is the person with the username account who registered the blog and who is the original Admin. That blog owner can access everything. See > http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/

  6. Also note the recommendation stated is for one Admin per blog. That said, you can contact the blog owner and if they choose to, then they can use this process to transfer the blog to your username account.
