cannot pick a Category

  1. I cannot pick a Category for my posts. This has been going on for seeral days now. Posts end up in 'Uncategorized' Help!

The blog I need help with is theyearinmusic.wordpress.com.

  2. We cannot even begin to help until you either link your blog to your username or provide the complete URL starting with http://

how to link blog to username
Dashboard -> Users -> Personal Settings -> then scroll down to 'Account Details'. In the spot where it says 'website' fill in the complete URL starting with http:// for your blog and save the changes.

Which browser and version of it are you using and have you tried logging out, force clearing your browser cache and cookies and then logging in again?

Is this the process you are using? http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/post-categories/

  3. your instructions SUCK! they do not work!
here is my blog location: http://theyearinmusic.wordpress.com/

  4. When posting you need to keep yourself cool and calm, and have a look at the Category widget and Uncheck the "Uncategorised" box and then select your categories. Read the instructions in http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/post-categories/ as @timethief provided
Read here about how to create categories : http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/category-management/

To display a category menu in your blog , go to Appearences->Widgets and add the Category widget in the sidebar, and read http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/categories-widget/ to configure it.

  5. You're only going to recieve instructions that relate to your situation if you follow the steps outlined in the sticky thread at the top of the forum called 8 Things To Know Before Posting. Since you didn't, TT had to guess.

Also, you're more likely to recieve good advice in the future if you don't go around mouthing off to the best volunteer in the forums.

  6. @chblack
You failed to read the sticky post at the head of the forum and provide a link to your blog. Rather than shunting you off and ignoring your question until your posted a blog like I chose to be kind and polite. I asked you questions which you failed to answer. Instead you chose to throw a temper tantrum like a two year old. Noted!
