Cannot select any of the widgets - try clicking and dragging, nothing works!!!

I can't pick up and drag any of my widgets from the holding area to the sidebar. I need to put some arbitrary text in the sidebar and the text widget won't move. When i try to click on it, it simply highlights the text as if I'm clicking and dragging across the whole page.

I also can't access any of the drop down menus on the sidebar where existing widgets sit. Again, they just act as if they aren't even a link.

I haven't got many widgets and I've been doing this for years so I'm very confused! Please help!!!

The blog I need help with is brainwashproject.wordpress.com.

  2. Have you tried clearing your browser cache and cookies?
Have you tried using the browser with all add-os and extensions disabled?
Which browser and version of it are you using?

I'm on a mac using Safari version 5.1.7

I'm also using another wordpress blog and that one is fine and working well so my browser cache and cookies etc shouldn't be the issue, right?

  4. I have the same!
How can I clear the browser cache and cookies?

  5. I have the same problem! Appeared out of nowhere.
Have cleared cookies, reset the browser. Tried turning off plugins, re-enabling java, javascript - no luck
Tried it on Safari 5.1.7 and Firefox 14.0.1 and neither work
Tried different themes and its the same. Its really frustrating.
I saw somewhere people saying to click on Screen Options and change a setting in there, but can't even open Screen settings on either browser.
Even tried another computer which and no better there.
    Hope someone has a solution.

  6. No solution, but I've got the same problem. Is there any way to report this to WordPress? Seems like an issue with their software. It's browser independent as far as I can tell.

I have tried the most recent versions of Safari, Firefox, and IE with no luck.... it's really pissing me off......

  8. I'm having the same problem too. Screen Options work fine on another wordpress.com site I have, but this one is not working at all. Tried three browsers, cleared cache, deleted cookies. Help right next to Screen Options doesn't work either. Pain in the neck. Seems like a much bigger problem than cache and browser. Please help!!!

  9. WordPress is currently down. I am having the same problem as well. All we can do is just wait and hope for the staff to fix it.

Same here, tried different browsers and clearing caches etc. Is there a way of emailing wordpress staff?
It does seem like a widespread issue..

  11. If it's a widespread issue, the staff will already know about it and thus won't need to be e-mailed.

I'm having the same problem with mine. It keeps highlighting them like text instead.

  13. I also am unable to select and drag widgets. I tried IE 9, Google Chrome, and Firefox 14. I am using the theme Greyzed. This is my first day using wordpress so I hope its something that can be fixed so I dont have to start over on my blog theme and settings! If anybody figured out how to fix this, please let us know. And this is for wordpress.com so the wholw plugins button solution thats out there doesn't work.

  14. i just changed my theme but NOTHING is working now. I cannot edit my widgets or move anything NOTHING. It was all fine before I changed my theme. Which i just got off wordpress. I am so new to wordpress and blogging i do not know what to do. :(

  15. Hi,

I'm encountering the same issue. I desperately wanna have this up and running. Can anyone please help?

  16. I've resorted to turning javascript off in browser and reloading dashboard, then little "add" buttons appear on the widgets and you can manually add them, takes longer and not the best but at least till it is fixed you can work on your site.

I'm having same problem as others have described.
I cannot interact with the widget settings--they don't open when I click the down arrow to expand the widget settings.
Was working fine yesterday, and now today I have no ability to drag widgets or change settings in the widgets.
    Using Chrome.
