Cannot understand menus & why I can only get two in header & not in my words?

I keep trying to fix the menu for my blog, but all I seem to be able to get are two categories listed on the black bar of my header. I see other blogs with the same theme & have no idea how they got them there. Do I have to upgrade?

Widgets seem to be fine, except I cannot get tags to post, and I don't know what "meta" means or does. Could someone help me please get my page in order?

I have a gravatar, but it is not shown on the site - only the patchwork quilt thing, and I have checked the place where you upload them, and mine is there.

I'm new to this. Please be patient with me.

    Thank you

The blog I need help with is zenandtheartoflivingwithmigrainedisease.wordpress.com.

  2. (1) If you don't create a custom menu, note that Pages will automatically appear in the menu bar when you publish them http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/
If you want to create a custom menu and include custom links and/or categories rather than just pages in it see > Using WordPress.com to Create a Website >
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/using-wordpress-to-create-a-website/
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/
There are many common errors, misunderstanding and misconceptions when creating custom menus and you can read about them here > http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2011/12/19/custom-menus/

Widgets seem to be fine, except I cannot get tags to post, and I don't know what "meta" means or does.

    (2) The documentation for all widgets is available by clicking this link > http://en.support.wordpress.com/topic/widgets-sidebars/ there you can click through to locate specifics on any individual widget like this one > http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/meta-widget/

    (3) Gravatars are cached images and take a few days to appear. They usually appear first here in the forums. For gravatar support post here if yours does not appear in a few days > http://en.gravatar.com/site/contact-us/

  3. On the bottom of your Admin page you will find a link to the Learn WordPress.com blogging Tutorial prepared by Staff. http://learn.wordpress.com/

The support documentation is all found at the Support link http://en.support.wordpress.com which is also on the bottom of your Admin page.

  4. (4) "I cannot get tags to post"
Tags are assigned to posts. http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/tags/
Until you actually publish posts with tags assigned to them the Tag Cloud widget will not have any data to display. http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/tag-cloud-widget/ The same is also true of Categories and the categories widget.
