Hi there, I'm working with a client on her new website. We transfered from Squarespace to new hosting and installed wordpress. Now I can't access the CSS editor or install plugins.
The blog I need help with is childofthestones.wordpress.com.

No, you can't. Welcome to WordPress.COM.
At WP.com as opposed to WP.org, we cannot install plugins or external themes, cannot host ads, and unless we purchase the custom design upgrade, cannot edit the CSS.

The actual site is self-hosted. It's not a .wordpress.com blog.

You are posting to the wrong support forum. That's a WordPress.org install. WordPress.com and WordPress.org are completely separate and different. I'm sorry but we cannot help you here at WordPress.com with that site as it’s not being hosted by WordPress.com and we run on different software. This is the correct forum for your software http://wordpress.ORG/support/ If you have not registered a WordPress.org username account yet you can do so on the top right hand corner of the page I just linked to so you can post to those support forums.
