Can't edit my site anymore

  1. I haven't been working on my site for awhile and after reinstalling the OS wanted to redo the site and load Captcha plug in. Went to edit from the site and went to dashboard... No Plug In tab. Looked all over here, no answer. Google, also. Found the exact problem but didn't help. Made sure I was logged as Admin (xxxx.com/wp-admin). Nothing changed. I'm thinking about deleting and starting over, but like reformatting it doesn't take long to wish you hadn't. I've read posts that said to go to the Dashboard and click on Docs. I don't have that either. Not even sure if reinstalling would do it. Really could use a hand on this.

The blog I need help with is www.skoville.com.

  2. Just wanted to add I've been dabbling with WordPress for a few years Not since today, like my avatar shows. LOL

  3. I remember when I started the site the log in was "Admin" and pass code. Would that matter?

  4. Hey Skoville,
I'm having a similar problem. There's no "editor" under the "appearance" tab and I'm unable to download any plugins. The only answer i've gleaned thus far is that these options are only for self-hosted wordpress sites. I even purchased the premium wordpress option to customize the CSS but still have no access to the basic HTML files.

  5. http://www.skoville.com is not a WordPress.COM blog but a WordPress.ORG blog and you need to be in their forums for help with that version of the software.

http://wordsupportfolio.wordpress.com/ is a WordPress.com blog and Wp.com blogs do not have plugins. When you purchase an upgrade here is gives you only exactly what it says, so the CSS upgrade gives you the ability to edit CSS. Not HTML or php. If that's not what you want, get a refund.

  6. Hi, you two. This futures my confusion. When I started my "Web Site", I had access to all, without using CSS or HTML. I could use those but didn't have to. It does sound like I'm in the wrong place. When I could edit, I could choose HTML or not. It wasn't that long ago when I had the ability to install plug ins, etc. Thanks for steering me to ORG.
Thanks, lollyspin. Nice to meet another head scratcher. I'll let you know what happens, if I find out. LOL
I think raincoaster is all set.

  7. Just wanted to add that this is the problem I had yesterday which lead me here at .com. Not only are the pertinent topics closed, but I'm having trouble finding a way to post a new thread. Promises to be an interesting day.

  8. Hey lollyspin,
Just to let you know ( yes I know I'm at the wrong forum ) I updated to the 3.9.1 WordPress and got all my tabs back. I would have installed the BackUp plug in, but I couldn't install any plug ins. Really wanted to redo most everything anyway.
Good luck with your stuff, skoville.
