Can't embed Kickstarter Widget on my Blog

  1. Trying to imbed kickstarter widget on wordpress blog and having a terrible time. Can anyone help? Frustrated and feeling like an idiot. My research has found something about not being able to embed flash, but I do not understand the work-around. Any help or guidance would be soooo appreciated. Thanks

The blog I need help with is thelifecube.wordpress.com.

  2. You can't embed Flash. It's not approved, because it's not safe.

The only workaround is the Gigya workaround: http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/category/gigya/

  3. If you paste the code here, we can show you how the workaround works. For the code to display correctly, you need to enclose it in backticks (see note on "Allowed markup").

  4. The code for the embeded widget is

    <iframe frameborder="0" height="380" src="http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/thelifecube/the-life-cube-v2-at-burning-man/widget/card.html" width="220"></iframe>

The video code (I think) is:

[source code for entire webpage removed]

The code for video preview is:
    <iframe width="480" height="360" src="http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/thelifecube/the-life-cube-v2-at-burning-man/widget/video.html" frameborder="0"> </iframe>

    ------------------------------
The URL of the kickstarter project is

    http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/thelifecube/the-life-cube-v2-at-burning-man?ref=live

If you need to reach me -- my email is [email redacted]

    my blog is http://thelifecube.wordpress.com/

Let me know what else you need. Thanks

  5. Hello,
That's an iframe code that cannot be used on free hosted WordPress.com blogs for security reasons. http://en.support.wordpress.com/code/

  6. can anyone help with a work around?

  7. 1) The first thing you posted is an iframe. There's no workaround for that.
    2) The second thing you pasted is the entire sourcecode of the widget: you didn't have to do this - we could select View Source and access it as easily as you did.
    3) I pointed out that code here needs to be pasted between backticks: you ignored that and messed the layout of the thread...

  8. Jesus, what a mess.

Let's just say: there is no workaround.
