can't followers insert gifs in the comments?

  1. I want the followers of my blog can insert animated gifs in the comments of my post.
I can insert animated gifs in the comments in my blog, but they can not. How can they do it?

The blog I need help with is mabelmonteszaporta.wordpress.com.

  2. Hi there,
unless the .gifs must be presized sized to be thumbnails or they will expand and blow up the comment box. More to the point these .gifs have to be hosted somewhere on;line to be displayed in the comments. Bloggers can submit the URLs to hosted .gifs that are thumbnail size and you can moderate and approve the comments. If that were not the case and anyone could post anything they wanted and your blog would be full of porno, spam, and all kinds of make money online bullshit and other spam. See here also for comment embeds http://en.support.wordpress.com/comments/embeds/

  3. Thanks so much for the reply. Sorry if I do not quite understand because my English is basic.

I have stayed in my blog a gif, but when my follower write the url of that gif, I see only the link, not the image.

  4. That means the .gif is not hosted on a web server somewhere online and until it is it will not display in the comments.

  5. Only the blog admins and editors can embed an image in the blog comments, as far as I am aware. Regular commenters can embed a YouTube, but not an image file.

  6. Thank you very much raincoaster
I've been trying for hours, you just release me.
Although I do not understand the logic that followers can not insert images, but they can insert videos and twits...
I hope WordPress add this option in future updates.
    Thank you both :D

  7. All images have to be hosted somewhere online or they cannot be displayed. If people could instantly embed images in comments and somehow have the images upload to my Media Library they would be sucking my free image storage space.

  8. timethief, I have my images hosted on a site online ( https://picasaweb.google.com/103816830706145841086/ScrapbookPhotos ) and still can not embed them in the comments if I do as a follower

You have been able to insert images in the comments as a follower?
because if is possible I continue trying
Is possible to need a plugins in the blog for authorize images?

  9. You have been able to insert images in the comments as a follower?

As raincoaster told you above that answer is no. I do apologize for not stating this clearly. No. Your commenters cannot insert any images into comments at all. they can only provide URLs and that's it.

  10. Is possible to need a plugins in the blog for authorize images?

There is no FTP access and no blogger installed plugin capability on any free hosted WordPress.com blogs.
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/ftp-access/
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/plugins/

See here for a full comparison WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org
    http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

There is no upgrade you can purchase here that provides FTP access and the ability to install plugins and or any third party themes. If you want FTP access and to install plugins or third party themes into a site then you will have to hire a web host http://wordpress.org/hosting/ and set up your own WordPress.org install.

  11. Ok: (
Excuse me, I understood you were trying to tell me otherwise, I am not able to understand english perfectly.

    Thank you very much :)

  12. Best wishes to you.

  13. The kind of site you want costs tens of thousands of dollars, generally speaking. ICanHasCheezburger pays $30,000 or so every year for hosting, because of the security risks of allowing anyone to upload potentially virus-laden image files.

  14. I do not want the followers freely upload photos on my blog and these are staying in my wordpress page. My hope is show that the images URL display (as timethief said), and if necessary the followers use code from any of these types: [img] url [/ img] or even

  15. ...or even HTML
