Can't Hide Author Name in New Blog

  1. I cannot, for the life of me, remember how to hide the author's name in my second blog I started. Any help?

The blog I need help with is parlerdetoilette.wordpress.com.

  2. What's the blog URL?

  3. Does anyone know how to do this? thank you.

Whether it can be done or not depends on how the theme was designed. If it can be done, then it requires the CSS upgrade and some CSS editing experience, but in most cases, all the post metadata is handled by a single CSS selector which means that the cats, tags, comments link and possibly the publish date will disappear also.

The only exception to this that I know of is the iNove theme, which allows you to choose whether you want the author, tags and categories to show on the posts. The settings for that are located in appearance > theme options with iNove.

@ananai, the site linked to your username is not a wordpress.COM blog, and we won't be able to help with that. If you are talking about a wordpress.COM blog, then please give us a link.

If you are talking about a self-hosted wordpress installation on a third-party hosting service such as godaddy, etc., then you need to inquire over at http://wordpress.ORG/support/ as that is where self-hosted blogs are supported.

  6. There are themes that do not display author names (usernames/nicknames). Please see here > http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/category/authors/

@TT, thanks for adding that. I had forgotten that he had investigated and published that post.

You're welcome. Sometimes just creating a nickname is a satisfactory solution for some blogers. Other times switching themes to one that doesn't display authors will suffice. The third option is the one you addressed re: CSS upgrade in combination with a theme change is required.
