   I do apologise for raising this issue again (have done so on a couple of other threads/articles) - I did send feedback through my blog last week but haven't received a reply yet and at last check it hadn't been addressed on the threads either.

   I've exported my blog to Moveable Type format and with the resultant text file tried to import this into my new WordPress.com blog. All the entries were imported successfully (thank you WordPress! :)), apart from a couple of images which I had to tweak the links for, though that wasn't a problem. However, none of my comments seem to have been imported (they're definitely in the exported text file).

   I would be ever so grateful if any of the admins could help me out - will provide link to existing blog and can email export text file over as well if necessary. I really want to close down my other blog but can't do so until I get this issue sorted out.

   If feedback isn't getting a response then you could try contacting one of the admins by email; see whether their blogs have contact addresses, or use the 'contact us' page at automattic.com.

   There are no known errors with the import, I don't know why your comments didn't come in. If you were exporting from software that wasn't MT it's highly likely that the export format had some errors in it.

   Is there any chance of you taking a look at the export file to see if there are actually any errors in it?

   The MT export format documentation tells you how the posts ought to be laid out.

   I haven't done any importing in the MT format recently, but in older versions of wordpress it did seem to involve a fair bit of trial-and-error. If possible, I would recommend splitting the file up and importing just a few entries at a time. It makes it easier to tweak the formatting and fix any glitches.

   Thanks wank - I think I'd better stop bothering the admins now! I'll take a look at the link you've provided (thanks so much for all your assistance) and have also contacted my original blog providers to find out if there are any known issues with the export at that end.

   I think I've solved it!! :) All I've done to my export file is removed an extra line above the start of the comments:

   <--- line removed here
   COMMENT:
   AUTHOR: bev
   EMAIL:
   IP:
   URL:

   and it seems to have done the trick! I'm still having problems with importing multiple comments - it just appends all the subsequent comments to the first comment, if that makes sense - but I'm sure I'll be able to figure it out :)

   Edited to add: And now the multiple comment problem is solved too! I am thoroughly happy :D

   I shall contact my original blog providers to let them know about the problem with the export file :)
