Cant install theme

  1. Yes i understand there is a million different topics on this.
    Ill tell you the situation.
I have my own domain ($17 a year from WordPress.com), I host with hostgator($80-$90 a year) and i have installed wordpress through the cpanel on hostgator.
When i go back to my website to the dashboard it still does not have an install theme button.
Now when people say wordpress.com does not allow installing themes and informs to go to wordpress.org...there is no dashboard for my site on wordpress.org let alone a log in button.

So what have I done wrong and what do I need to do?
    Thanks

You are logging into wordpress.COM. Your site at hostgator is not connected in anyway to wordpress.com. Your hostgator site is completely stand-alone. You have to sign into the your site on hostgator.

What is the URL of your site at hostgator?

  4. Sorry for new newness but where do find the URL?

    Greatly appreciate the reply

Not a problem. It is the address of your site.

  6. Hi, thanks for your reply. I think i have solved the problem.
Just so if anyone else reads this i contacted Hostgator who were very helpful and informed me that my nameservers were not pointing towards hostgator.
I changed that and now im just awaiting the allotted time to see if it works.

You are welcome and I thought that might be the problem. Best of luck, and in future, for the software you are using, head over to http://wordpress.ORG/support/ for any problems you have since they know far more about it than we do.
