I highlight the word in the main body of my blog, then click on "insert link" and paste the URL and click "open in new window". However, when I then go to my published blog and try to click on the links, not only does no new window open, but the page that opens says "Oops! Google Chrome could not find http".
Why is this not working? It seems like it should be so simple...

http://
I've already tried that. Doesn't matter if I have one http, two, or none....
Okay, suddenly it works. I don't think it had anything to do with the https, but this time I re-wrote the linked word in the box where it says "title". Yes, that seems to have been the issue. Strange, considering filling it the "title" is supposed to be optional?
1) My reply wasn't a guess: I checked the sourcecode of your post before replying.
2) Yes it does matter if you have one http or two or none: the one will give a valid and working link, the others won't.
3) What had happened is that you had pasted the complete URLs (starting with http) after the http that's already there in the URL field as a suggestion. Now you removed the links and did them again more carefully, so you avoided duplicating the http. Nothing to do with the title.
4) Yes, the title is optional, and it's not supposed to be what we see on the post: it's extra info that shows up upon hover, so one can tell what the link is without having to click on it. There's no point entering "this" as the title: your titles in this case should be "YouTube video" or something like that.
Thank you for your help. I could swear I had been careful with the https earlier, but maybe something got past me. I didn't realize that's what the "title" was for, so thank you for filling me in.
You're welcome. Yes, many users don't know about the title attribute: in fact, a rather common complaint here is from users who fail to type anything in the post (as you correctly did), enter the URL and the title only, and then wonder why their links are invisible.
