I'm trying to add this badge to my blog in a text widget:
<image src="http://greenmomfinds.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2007/12/gmfbutton125.png">
It doesn't seem to work - I just get an empty area on my blog and when I go back to check it in the text file, the code has changed.

Your syntax is incorrect. Use img src instead of writing out the word image
