can't see Freshly pressed, Read blogs or Topics

  1. Waht's happened to the main page? I just have a blank spavce underneath where Freshly Pressed, Read blogs and Topics should be.

    Here are the URL's but as I said just blank.

    Where have they gone?

    using the browser with all extensions or add-ons disabled
    updating the browser to the latest stable vesrion (not a buggy BETA browser version) http://browsehappy.com/
    confirming third party cookies is enabled http://support.google.com/accounts/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=61416
    confirming JavaScript is enabled http://www.google.com/adsense/support/bin/answer.py?answer=12654
    resetting your router and modem rebooting your computer and logging in again
    trying another browser

  3. I'm permanently logged in and have been using the site several times today..

    Okay I've just tried FIrefox and it's working on there.. any idea why this happens so suddenly...weird! but thanks

    I don't advise that and if you intend to remain permanently logged in then you have will have to clear your browser cache and cookies frequently.

  5. Okay but I think I've been permanently logged in since about December and have never had any problem before. So why now? and what difference does logging out make exactly?

  6. I don't know why this happened. I know if the browser you're using or a page you're viewing is displaying problems, I need to clear the browser's cache. If that doesn't fix the problem, then I clear the browser's cookies.

    Each time you access a file through your web browser, the browser caches (i.e., stores) it. Thus, the browser doesn't have to newly retrieve files (including any images on the page) from the remote web site each time you click Back or Forward. You should periodically clear the cache to allow your browser to function more efficiently.

    A cookie is a file created by a web browser, at the request of a web site, that is stored on a computer. These files typically store user-specific information such as selections in a form, shopping cart contents, or authentication data. Browsers will normally clear cookies that reach a certain age, but clearing them manually may solve problems with web sites or your browser.

    A browser's history is a log of sites that you visit. When you press a browser's Back button, you are moving back one entry the history log.   7. This same thing happened to me. I haven't changed any settings. It worked last night but not today.

    It's happening to me too, I'm logged in, when I click 'topics' or 'read blogs' the address bar sticks in an extra '#1' in the address.

    Apologies, it's a '!' not a 1.

  11. Same problem here -- there was a thread like this yesterday, with no answers or solution. And no, clearing the cookies, restarting browser, restarting everything didn't change it for me.

    trying another browser

    If those do not work Staff need to know (1) how are you connecting to the internet and to WordPress.com. The way you connect to the internet (mobile, satellite, DSL, dial-up) and to your blog, and how many proxy server jumps etc. it takes to connect can cause problems. There maybe be problems with your ISP and/or with the proxy servers. (2) And exactly which browser and version of it are you using.     I am having the same problem - it started with no changes in anything else, and everything ese and all my other access is fie. I have Internet Explorer 9.0.6, I deleted cookies, etc., confirmed cookies are enabled, and restarted - still can't get anything to come up for Topics, Freshly Pressed etc. from the home menu.

    I was able to access Freshly pressed posts separetly by using my search engine and going to: http://freshlypressed.wordpress.com/feed/ - not the same format, but at east I'm not missing them.

    Here's something intressting - when I'm logged out, I can see Freshly Pressed etc as soon as I sign in, I lose it. Done this 3 times now.

    I've been having the exact same problem and it's really frustrating. I do not want to download another browser onto my laptop, especially since this is the only site I am having problems with and it was working fine until suddenly it wasn't. I'm very frustrated because I paid extra for my web address, I should at least be able to read blogs!

    I have tried all the trouble shooting methods shown above with no effect. I don't think it's the ISP because I am using a laptop with wireless connection and I am having the same problem at home and at work and those are two different connections. Also, I am not having this problem on my PC at home, only my laptop even though it was working fine on both computers last week.

  18. Here's what whatsmyuseragent.com tells me: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:8.0.1) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/8.0.
    Unfortunately I can't really update Firefox (my system is an ancient one, rather difficult to keep in balance -- this is what works, so it has to do ...), but I've encountered the problem with different browsers, too.

  20. I'm having the same problem on my iPad. Does the fact that it is suggested to Flash and Java mean that it isn't supposed to word on an iPad? Is there an alternative?

  21. I have been having the same issue with my PC at work, at home all is good. But here I cant see freshly pressed ect. I too have tried all the sggestions above and since it's a work PC I cant change the browser ect. Please respond on this thread if you figure out anything we can do. Thank you

  23. Hi - I posted a question about this issue this morning on another thread - I just started to not be able to get the 'reader' to load any of the blogs I am subscribed to - freshly pressed or interests.

    It was working find yesterday - just stopped last night for no apparent reason.

  25. It looks like IE is having a serious problem, and so are older versions of FF. All I can suggest is that you report it to staff via your dashboard Help button with a link to this thread.

  26. My problem seems resolved - I can once again see my subscribed to blogs and reader seems to be working well.

    I followed the suggestion for clearing cookies and cache and if that is what did the trick thank you so much.

  27. Same is the problem here with IE9 WTF! ٰI'm not seeing FP when log out but couldn't when log in. I've cleared my caches multiple times.

  28. I have been having this problem for days now. No FP and no Reader. The Stats and other things connected to my own blog on the home page work. I can see FP when logged out only.

  29. You are not alone for if you peruse the forum you will find there are multiple threads on this issue all waiting Staff attention.

    Same here. FP is only accessible when I'm logged out. I can't get into Reader. Only Stats. This problem is happening on my laptop, my desktop and my smartphone.
