I've created categories, but cannot figure out how to apply them to my posts. My blog only shows "uncatagorized."

The blog I need help with is eternalflowers.wordpress.com.

  2. This might be helpful:

Also please post a link to your blog when you ask questions here, starting with http://
Or link your blog to your name (second item on this list):

Thank you! I'm just starting out, am brand new to all of this, and, clearly, am stumbling around....

OK, wonderful, I will check out the link you've recommended.

    I appreciate your help.

Great links and info, many thanks! If you please, do you know if it's possible to categorize a post after it's been published and filed in "uncategorized?" Can't seem to find the way to do it. Thank you.

  5. Post editor > Categories module: untick Uncategorized, tick other available category or categories (or click "Add New Category" to type in a new one), click Update Post.

Thank you for your help. I've been trying to do this. However, when I go to "Post" and then "Edit" it doesn't work. Meaning, I untick and tick and apply and update, but still the post remains "uncategorized." Perplexing, yes?

  7. Uncategorized is the default category. You have to add another one.

Yes, thanks, I do understand this. I have actually added 2 categories, and am still having problems in applying them. Any ideas?
    Thank you!

  9. On my test blog, I just added a category widget to the sidebar and added a new parent category. I then edited my single published Post to the new category, removed the "uncategorized" category and resaved my Post. It shows up in the category widget under the new category.

    Did that make sense?

This makes perfect sense, thanks! I guess I'm going about it in the wrong way. This is the way I've been trying to do it: Dashboard > Posts > Edit
My one and only post shows under Post. Across the table then is Author, Categories, Tags, Stats, Date.
Tick boxes are next to Post. Above the table is the Categories section. When I pop it open, I see my categories, and I select the one I want. Then I click 'Apply,' and nothing happens....
Can you see what I may be doing wrong?

    I appreciate your help!

  11. You're in the wrong screen! While on that screen, click post title to get to the post editor; then as I described above.

    Panos, you're brilliant! Efkharisto!

  13. Parakalo - you helped a lot by mentioning what was across the screen! It's confusing when you still don't know the terminology. The screen you were talking about is the edit screen: actually a list of your posts. From there you access each individual post by clciking on its title, or by clicking the "Edit" tab that shows up when you hover over the title. That gets you to the post editor: the one with the box for the text. That's where most of the editing is done.

  14. As for the "Apply" button, that works after you select an action from the "Bulk actions" dropdown. It's only for batch processing some things for several or all posts at once.

I appreciate all this great info, Panos! As you can see, I'm totally new at this.
    Yassou!
