Category drop down menu not adding new subcategory

    Hi,

I am having some problems with the category drop down menu. I added a new subcategory, and put a post in it to make sure it shows up, and that subcategory shows up correctly in the category sidebar widget. But the new subcategory is not showing up in the drop down menu with the current other subcategories. I remember this was a problem before when we were trying to make the drop down menu, and it was resolved somehow by an old coworker and I don't know what she did. I believe this is a coding issue, and I have a small amount of coding experience. Please help!

Just to clarify, there is a drop down menu with subcategories that is currently working, but I am trying to add a new subcategory to it, that isn't showing up.

    Thanks

The blog I need help with is thetrendboutique.wordpress.com.

  2. That site linked to your name is a not a free hosted by WordPress.com and you are posting to the wrong support forum. This is the correct support forum for that software > http://wordpress.org/support/

If you are asking about a free hosted WordPress.com blog, and you simply failed to provide a link to it, and it resembles that commercial site linked to your username, then take note of what follows.

In a nutshell no blogger initiated advertising, retailing or reselling the work created or services provided by anyone other than yourself is allowed on free hosted wordpress.COM blogs. E-commerce transactions via shopping carts and the like cannot be conducted on free blogs from and being free hosted by wordpress.COM

The advertising exceptions noted in support documentation are for high traffic blogs that qualify for and are accepted into the Ad Control program, soon to be replaced with the WordAds program, and for extremely high traffic blogs that qualify and are accepted into the paid VIP hosting program.

Oops, sorry, I did this last time too, I thought this time I was on the right forum

  4. The blog linked to your username is definitely not a free hosted WordPress.com blog.

I am not exactly sure what you are talking about. I am pretty sure that our blog is a WordPress.com blog and not org. I know that we have paid WordPress for an upgrade, so I don't quite understand. Because we paid for an upgrade, does that make it WordPress.org?

  6. Your username links to http://www.shopthetrendboutique.com/ , which isn't even a wp.org blog. We always need the URL of the blog in question, so when it's not the one linked to your username you must include its URL in your question.

  7. And your questions must be precise: which category and which subcategory?

    Thank you for your help.

Under "Celebrity Style," right now there is "Celeb Birthdays" and I am trying to add "What to Wear..." and it isn't showing up in the drop down menu.

  9. a) You're using a custom top menu. You need to go to Appearance > Menus and add the new subcat to that menu.

    b) Your main page takes too long to load because there are too many images on it. You should limit the number of posts per page to only a few, and use the read-more tag to truncate the posts.

    c) Your blog probably violates the wp.com TOS and will probably be suspended.

Ok thank you! That answered my questions and we are not trying to violate the tos so we are going to figure it out.

  11. You're welcome, and I'm happy to say I was wrong re point c: staff just told me that you're promoting your own stuff only, so the blog is ok.
