Category frustration!!

  1. I have tried to search this out on FAQ and older forum questions, and I can't find it... so I hope I'm not repeating a question. I have Ocean Mist theme. I am wanting to find out how I can have my category, eg: family link to all my 'family' posts. At the moment, if I click on a post with 'family', it takes me to a WordPress tag/family webpage. I don't want that. I want my category as a category for my blog posts. What do I need to do?

    Thanks anyone :)

  2. You need to either add a tag cloud or privatise your blog. To direct your tags to a local source, you need to disable the "allow search engines to find my blog" option.

  3. thank you

  4. If you put the category widget in your sidebar, all the categories listed there will be local to your blog. It's the links on the posts themselves that go to the global pages (except as lizii has defined above). The reasons they go to the global pages include: community-building at WP.com and SEO for your blog. They are a HUGE source of SEO.
