Certain themes can't be purchased

  1. Is there any reason why this theme at http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/magazine/ can't be purchased and the theme at http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/parament/ can't be activated?

The blog I need help with is linearfix.wordpress.com.

  2. If you are having problems with purchasing or activating the premium themes, please contact Support directly.

http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/ Enter anything in the search box and if it comes back with a result, choose "no" and the contact form should appear.

  3. This theme (http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/parament/) isn't premium but it is unavailable to uninstall.

  4. Install not uninstall.

  5. If you can't activate Parament or purchase Magazine from your Dashboard under Appearance>Themes>Activate, then please try logging out of WordPress.com, clearing your browser's cache and cookies and then shutting down your browser. See here:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/

If it still doesn't work after you log back into WordPress.com, please use the link I gave above to contact Support directly.

  6. I designed this site for a client, and I can't activate Parament theme from your Dashboard under Appearance>Themes>Activate,.
I have tried logging out of WordPress.com, clearing the browser's cache and cookies and then shutting down the browser and computer.

  7. @csidestudio-Can you activate any of the other themes via the Dashboard? What browser and version are you using?

  8. Thank you for you reply
I am using Firefox on a Macbook Pro. The Twenty Eleven theme is up but will not display the side bars.

  9. I do get a list of themes to install but Parament is not listed.

  10. Sorry, perhaps I do not understand what it is you are trying to do.

You say you want to activate Parament in the WordPress.com Dashboard but are not able to do so. Can you activate any of the other themes under Appearance?

The site you linked to using Twenty Eleven is not hosted here on WordPress.com. This is the support forum for sites hosted on WordPress.com. If you need help with a self-hosted WordPress.org install, then you will have to seek help at the correct support forum, which is http://wordpress.org/support/

More about the difference between COM and ORG here: http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

  11. What is the URL of the blog you need help with, starting with http://

  12. http://oclegalwizard.wordpress.com/ is working correct.

The domain and hosting were set up with at&t, They helped me transfer the site to:
    http://oclegalwizard.com/

The site is there and there is a way to install the other themes but Parament by Automattic. is not one of them.

  13. If you are asking about the site you linked to above, http://oclegalwizard.com/ , then you are asking in the wrong forum. WordPress.com and self-hosted WordPress.org work differently even if they both have WordPress in their name.

If you are asking about a site on WordPress.com, then please give us the URL.

  14. http://oclegalwizard.wordpress.com/ is working correct.

The domain and hosting were set up with at&t, They helped me transfer the site to:
    http://oclegalwizard.com/

The site is there and there is a way to install the other themes but Parament by Automattic. is not one of them.

Can I get Parament by Automattic theme from wordpress.com?

  15. http://oclegalwizard.wordpress.com/ is hosted on WordPress.com and is already using Parament. That is the reason you don't see this theme to activate in your WordPress.com Dashboard. It already is activated.

    About http://oclegalwizard.com/

The domain and hosting were set up with at&t, They helped me transfer the site to: http://oclegalwizard.com/
and therefore, that is a self-hosted site, not hosted by WordPress.com. (Look at the footer in that site. It says "Powered by WordPress" and not "Blog at WordPress.com".)

Parament may not be available for self-hosted sites. Here's what it says in the Theme Showcase for Parament

Parament’s layout and design was inspired by Pyrmont, a popular theme with self-hosted WordPress.org blogs.

But why have two sites running the same material? Perhaps what you intended was to have domain mapping so you could use your own domain name with a WordPress.com site. See here:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/add-a-domain/
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/map-existing-domain/

In any event, cheers and good luck either way.

  16. Can I get Parament by Automattic theme from wordpress.com?
Or make it available to install?

There is a tab to upload_ Install a theme in .zip format (If you have a theme in a .zip format, you may install it by uploading it here.)

  17. I would be willing to delete the wordpress.com site. Would it be available then?

I would like to insert a swf file in the header and as far as I understand wordpress will not accept swf and I would not have access to the format.php files to insert the swf.

I have other sites that I would love to just have wordpress host if it is possible to insert swf.

  18. I set a different theme on http://oclegalwizard.wordpress.com/ and the Parament theme is still not available to install for http://oclegalwizard.com/

  19. @csidestudio-you have set up two completely separate sites. One is a free site hosted here on WordPress.com and the second is a self-hosted install of the WordPress.org software. The link I gave you above explains the differences between WordPress.com and WordPress.org: http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/ Please read it completely for better understanding.

Parament is a theme that was developed by Automattic, presently available for use on WordPress.com. According to this thread http://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/new-parament-them-from-automatic?replies=6 it will be made available for use on self-hosted sites in the future via the theme repository on WordPress.org, but we forum volunteers do not have any knowledge or control over when that will be.

    Cheers!
