Change font weight for headings in Sundance

  1. Hi,

    Does anyone know how to change the font weight for headings/ post titles in the Sundance theme?

    Thanks,

    MH

    The blog I need help with is sohovoiceover.com.

  2. Here you go!

    .entry-title { font-weight: bold; }

  3. Thanks so much. Do you know whether there is a way to make the font thinner, rather than thicker? Or is a question of choosing another font?

    Thanks so much,

    MH

  4. You can change the "font-weight" attribute to different values, but they will only work if the font that is loaded supports those values.

    For example, try comparing the difference between these examples i your Appearance → Themes → Customize → CSS panel:

    .entry-title {
        font-family: "Georgia", serif;
        font-weight: 300;
    }
    .entry-title {
        font-family: "Georgia", serif;
        font-weight: 500;
    }
    .entry-title {
        font-family: "Georgia", serif;
        font-weight: 600;
    }

    There's no difference between the 300 and 500 weights for me because those versions of the font aren't saved for the Georgia font in my case.

    See this page for more info about "font-weight":

    Now, when it comes to using Custom Fonts in the Appearance → Custom Design → Fonts panel, if the font supports different weights, you will see an option for that next to where you select the font. This help page shows an example:

  5. Thanks so much for your help - this is very thorough.

    For other users - after some trial and error it looks as though the default theme font is actually Droid Serif, which doesn't support lighter weights - the only options are regular, bold, italic, bold italic...So to change the weight you would need to work in a different font.

    Thanks again,

    Miranda
