Change from Skydrive to Onedrive

  1. Just flagging up that Microsoft's Outlook.com changed its file sharing system's name from "Skydrive" to "Onedrive" yesterday. This change filters down to embed code. I've been trying to embed excel spreadsheets I've got stored on Skydrive (now Onedrive) on my WordPress.com website and finding the embed code doesn't work any more. After a bit of tinkering, I changed the reference in the code which read
src="https://onedrive.live.com/embed? to read src="https://skydrive.live.com/embed? and suddenly the embed worked. I'm no technician, so don't understand the wider issues/implications, but just wanted to share this info.

The blog I need help with is nexcmtb.com.

  2. Thanks for letting us know. It looks like their servers changed so the old address no longer worked.

  3. Thanks nexcmtb - I just had the same issue, but didn't find a solution.

jackiedana - it seems that the new address provided by Microsoft doesn't work, the old skydrive address still works.

Also I have been trying to use the new embed code provided by Microsoft from skydrive/onedrive (or whatever they are calling it today), I paste the link into the text view screen, but when I save a draft the link is deleted. At the moment I can't work out how to embed a skydrive file into a new post, although my old links are still working.

  4. Further to my previous post, to embed a link to a "Onedrive" file, create and copy the link in Onedrive, paste it into the blog editor (in text view), then replace the "one" in the address with "sky". If you then click the "save draft" button the WordPress software automatically convert the link into WordPress format, rather than deleting it, which is what happens if you leave the address as onedrive.

  5. It looks like the link that the 'new' OneDrive service includes an iframe link. It looks like we enabled the old Skydrive links on WordPress.com but will need to sort things out for OneDrive. If you can generate an old-style link, that would be my recommendation for now.

  6. I can't see any way to generate the old style link, but as noted above, generating an iframe link then changing "onedrive" to "skydrive" works for now.

  7. It looks like our developers have deployed a fix so OneDrive embeds should work now. Could you check it out and let me know if it's working for you?

  8. Yes, that seems to be working now (just a quick test though).

Please pass on my thanks to the developers :)

  9. Thanks, I will do so! If you run into any further trouble with this, please let me know.
