I started a blog last year that I did not complete. I want to go in a different direction, so should I change the existing blog or create a new one?

Just change the existing blog, unless you have a very clear focus and want to start over with a different URL that reflects that particular focus.

if you want to you can quickly remove your contents from the blog by deleting them in bulk.
