Hi,
I am an amazon web services user and I have a micro instance running to be able to hit the elastic IP associated with the instance. When I do so, I am presented with my site that uses wordpress.
I have phpmyadmin configured in such a way where, "http://MY_IP/phpmyadmin/index.php" directs me to MySQL to where I can choose the wordpress data base. I found tutorials on how to change my URL. After doing so, whenever I try to hit my IP, the 'fancyness' of the site breaks OR I will not be taken to anything; I will get an error.
What i'd like to do is change my URL from an IP address to a name that I prefer. From what I gather, I need to buy a domain name ($12/yr). Once I buy it, then I can change it to be the home and siteurl in the wordpress database - currently that does not work.
Thanks very much,
Joseph
