What the hell? You guys have changed everything, even on how to contact anyone or leave feedback. Now I have to hunt to find a way to make a new post and view my previous posts. Not to mention, where did my dashboard go? This is not one of your better tinkerings. Please put back the dropdown menu and make it easy again.

The blog I need help with is colleenanderson.wordpress.com.

  2. No changes are going to be reverted. If your have specific issues please list them and we will deal with them.

    where did my dashboard go?

http://colleenanderson.wordpress.com/wp-admin is where you l;of-in and logging in results in being on your own blog's dashboard.

Now I have to hunt to find a way to make a new post and view my previous posts.

Please help! I saw this thread and need to speak with someone who knows what they're talking about. timethief you seem to know a bit. I suddenly cannot access the correct admin login page for my blog. I have a premium blog but cannot even email support without being logged in which I cannot do. I have tried going through bluehost and typing the address in directly: mylifecubby.me/wp-admin and I keep getting a "server error" message. I can't even login to my dashboard. Have any idea why this is happening?

This support forum is only for free hosted WordPress.com blogs. The site linked to above is not a free hosted WordPress.com blog and you are posting to the wrong support forum.

WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and if that's the site you need help with then this is the correct forum for your software http://wordpress.ORG/support/ If you have not registered a WordPress.org username account yet you can do so on the top right hand corner of the page I just linked to so you can post to those support forums.

Like Coleen, I am a bit disappointed with these changes as well. Why have they been made? The dropdown menu was so handy and it`s not as nice looking either.

Though that dropdown menu seems to appear from this help page which is wierd.

  9. I, too, am not a fan of the changes. I liked the statistics summary that is now gone or hidden. Add media is more cumbersome and no longer tells me the amount of space I have remaining. I have considered moving to a self hosted blog and these changes may cause me to make the move.

  10. I wonder why some of the functions have been removed from the 'Add New Post' page? I like to have my blog post outlined nicely, with no unnecessary indents at the end of lines.
Is there a chance that this function will return?

  11. The changes certainly take some getting used to, however, my biggest disappointment is that I am having difficulty figuring out how to use the slideshow. Has that been removed? It was such a great way to display a lot of pics at once.

Will you please create your own thread so we can help you with your specific issues in it. Simply click this link first http://en.forums.wordpress.com/?new=1 then post the URL starting with http:// for the blog in question and clearly state exactly what you need assistance with.

  14. This is really bad. The changes are awful. Where is the 30 day summary now? Do you check these changes before you introduce them? There are so many errors I have to assume not.

  15. What a great response:
"No changes are going to be reverted"

It's fine to have a bunch of links listed but that doesn't help me when I sign in. When I log in, I cannot find the dashboard that lists themes, posts, etc. I can hit new post, sure. But I often have some in the works and want to go back to my list.

Other changes in the past have made sense, made accessibility easier. This one falls into the realm of annoying Facebook changes. If it takes me longer to hunt, it certainly isn't intuitive.

  17. @apetcher

Where is the 30 day summary now?

That is answered is another thread > http://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/summary-tables-for-stats?replies=46

The link is gone from the bar graph to summary tables but ally can be reached at: https://wordpress.com/#!/my-stats/?view=table

? Do you check these changes before you introduce them?

I am a Volunteer. It's my understanding that Staff do test WordPress core software changes before they are implemented at WordPress.com and then are made available to WordPress.org users.

Oh, and why is it even harder to contact WordPress. I had to really really hunt for a place to post. What happened to "Feedback?"

  19. @collenanderson
    re: the links I provided
You're welcome. Please fee free to bookmark them as I have done so you can access them quickly and easily.

  20. No, they don't test anything. They make changes and then wait for users to identify problems. I am supportive of improvements but too often changes improve nothing and worse still - are a backward step.

Unfortunately bookmarking is a stop-gap and doesn't make ease of accessibility from the wordpress page better. I use different computers and bookmarking is not the best option. I hope wordpress will think about these changes. I agree with the above person too on inserting media. There are now more steps to do the same thing.

We're devolving here. I understand you're a volunteer and thank you for your prompt answers but they don't let us navigate wordpress any better.

  22. @apetcher

No changes are going to be reverted

I told the truth based on my almost 7 years of experience here, and on Staff responses in threads with regard to the recent changes to Media handling.

    No, they don't test anything.

I don't think that's true. I believe they do test first and also know that Staff themselves are among those who are part of the testing on their own blogs prior to implementing the changes here.

If you need specific help please start your own thread so we can deliver it http://en.forums.wordpress.com/?new=1

  23. @collenanderson
This is a peer support forum where Volunteers answer most questions and tag threads with issues we technical issues that we cannot assist with resolving. We don't provide emotional support for adaptation to unwelcome changes (please note that we are probably just as unhappy as you are and we don't get any prior warning of any changes either), but we are happy to assist with technical issues and tag threads when Staff assistance is required.

  24. I'm concerned about the functionality of using WordPress. Having the drop-down menu with the link taking us to our dashboards was great because having it there as soon as we came to WordPress was user friendly and functional. The only way I could find it now was clicking on various links until I found a page that still offered the drop-down menu at the top. Don't get me wrong, I love WordPress, I left Live Journal because of it's great user friendly functionality, it's also one of the main reasons I haven't taken completely to tumblr. I think I'm mostly worried that there will be worse or more annoying changes ahead. The drop-down menu is a simple thing, but having it easily available makes a lot of difference. Also I really am hoping no changes will becoming of the dashboard because it's my favourite feature here.

I just wanted to leave my feedback on it. If there's a better way or place to I will gladly leave it there.

  25. I don't need specific help, I just find it disappointing when changes are made without proper testing and contribute no improvement to the product. I still love WP but please test things before making changes and consider the user!

If I needed emotional support I would go cry on a friend's shoulder or have a drink. I'm talking about feedback here. As in, where do I click on the wordpress page to get to my list of past posts and my drafts? Why is it so hidden now? Do I now need a map of links to get there? Isn't that rather old fashioned?

If wordpress is so uninterested in how their changes affect their users that would explain why there is no longer a section for leaving feedback. And likewise, the dropdown menu was useful and quick. It is no longer there and no longer quick.

    Like the person above,

      where
    can we leave feedback?

  27. As in, where do I click on the wordpress page to get to my list of past posts and my drafts

Your dashboard is here > http://colleenanderson.wordpress.com/wp-admin

Dashboard > Posts > All Posts

  28. Like the person above, where can we leave feedback?

There is no specific forum for feedback.

I know what to do when I have the dashboard. What I'm talking about, again, is that when I log in I see no place to bring up the dashboard. If I have to have a host of links, then wordpress has just gone backwards in time.
    Step 1. Log in
Step 2. Go to dashboard (what do I click on?)

This has yet to be answered. Don't give me a link, tell me what I'm looking for to find the dashboard.
