Changing Blog Page Only

  1. Hi,

    I have created a site with multiple pages, i have one page dedicated to all posts which acts as the blog. I am wanting to add a few items specifically to this page alone. I am using the Chunk theme.

    - Move the "Leave a Comment" from the top right to underneath each post
    - Remove the grey background from the post
    - Change the Grey Border around images to Black
    - Add a side bar to the post which will have permanent links, profile etc

    The blog I need help with is ladydeelish.com.

  2. First, note that if you're just making incremental changes to CSS and not rewriting everything from scratch, then copying the entire stylesheet into the Appearance → Custom Design → CSS page is not the best way. Instead, I would recommend checking the "Add my CSS" option and just putting CSS for the changes you want to make to the existing styles into the CSS Editor.

  3. - Move the "Leave a Comment" from the top right to underneath each post

    Start with this and adjust the values until the comment link appears where you want it to.

    .hentry .entry-meta .comments {
    	position: absolute;
    	bottom: -36px;
    	left: 0;
    }
  4. - Remove the grey background from the post

    You currently have only one post and it's marked as sticky. Sticky posts are usually designed to stand out somehow, such as using a shaded background. You could re-style that with CSS, but I would recommend removing the sticky option if it's not needed. It should only be used if you want to take a particular post out of the normal order and highlight it at the top of a list. See http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/post-visibility/#sticky-posts

  5. - Change the Grey Border around images to Black

    .entry-content a img {
    	border: 10px solid #000000;
    }
  6. - Add a side bar to the post which will have permanent links, profile etc

    That cannot be done using CSS.

  7. That is so wonderful! thank you.

    We really want the blog to looks similar to this site with a fixed image at the top and a column/frame on the side that we can add content to - like a widget i guess. Not sure if we can do this to one page only?

  8. It looks to me like choosing the closest theme to what you want would be a good place to start.

    The blog you linked is a clean, minimal design. It looks similar to the White as Milk theme to me, so you may want to check that one out. You would need to add a little custom CSS to place a header image in White as Milk, but you can easily get help with that here in the CSS forums if you need to.

    Other themes which are similar and have some additional theme options are Origin and Blogum. Or you can look at this list: http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/

  9. Cool - thanks.

    Last question

    I am wanting to reduce the padding size between the tagline and Menu, between the menu and the page content and between the page content and the footer.
