Changing fonts in twenty eleven

  1. I am trying to set up my very first blog, this said, I have no idea of blogging. I have chosen twenty eleven as a theme, because it seems to be flexible. Is it accessible for beginners to change the font of the theme? I haven't found a free theme so far which lets you change fonts, colours etc.

The blog I need help with is bluemountainsrelocalization.wordpress.com.

  2. There is not a free and easy way to change fonts throughout a free hosted WordPress.COM blog wearing any theme. These are 3 ways to change fonts on WordPress.com blogs.

    (1) Changing font families, colors and size in text in posts or pages either post by post or page by page by coding into the HTML editor.

    (2) Changing font colors in text in posts or pages either post by post or page by page using the #4 icon (Select text color – change the text color) in Row 2 the Visual editor. http://en.support.wordpress.com/visual-editor/#row-2

    (3) Changing all font families, colors and sizes throughout the whole blog by purchasing an annually renewable Custom Design upgrade and using Typekit Fonts with Staff support. http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/#custom-fonts

  3. WordPress.com is a great platform to start blogging. It is a LOUSY platform for fiddling with web design.

So, basically your options to change the fonts are to:

    1) learn CSS editing, buy the custom design upgrade, and code the changes in CSS. This allows you to change any text anywhere on your page.
    or
    2) hand-code, in HTML, the changes to the font in each blog post you make. This will not allow you to change titles or widget fonts except in text widgets.

  4. Thanks raincoaster! That was exactly my first impression.
I wonder weather I start with weebly or with wordpress. I found that the wordpress themes looked good, but that they were all not very flexible when it comes to design. I want to be able to simply change fonts, colours, width of columns etc, just like you would do writing a text.

  5. I want to be able to simply change fonts, colours, width of columns etc, just like you would do writing a text.

As I stated above changing fonts styles, colors and sizes is neither free nor easily done on any free hosted WordPress.com blog.

  6. I'm a professional writer. When writing text, I just write the text. I don't give a rat's patootie how it looks as long as it reads well.

There is no platform on which this is tremendously easy, because web design is not easy. But you could try Blogger.

  7. Thanks for the answers all of you!
