Changing Themes

  1. I've put quite a bit of time into townsendpdx.com, utilizing the Twenty Ten Theme. I would like to try a Flexible Width Theme (such as Coraline or Twenty Eleven) to achieve a wider page with less "wasted" space. When I contemplate switching Themes, I have Previewed my site in Twenty Eleven. This seems to default to a one column display. I know I can configure Twenty Eleven to two columns (as I have Twenty Ten), and my finger hovered over "Activate", but I have chickened out. What if it doesn't work out for some reason? Could I transition back to Twenty Ten without messing up a lot of work?

The blog I need help with is townsendpdx.com.

  2. The Twenty Eleven theme is coded not to display sidebar on single posts. This is commensurate with showcasing our posts free from sidebar distractions that draw visitors eyes and minds way from post content. You can read about the full features of that theme here http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2011/05/04/workings-of-duster/
As for switching back this is not a big deal and no content will be lost when switching themes. In some cases you may have to replace widgets but that's all.
