Changing Username and URL on Public Profile and Account Details

    I created a new blog today: GrammyCanIhelpcook.wordpress.com. I deleted my old blog: renalrd.wordpress.com.
    I want to change my Username to be the same as my new blog address or GrammyCanIhwelpcook.
    I go to My Public Profile>Basic Details>Username nannyd (Change). When I click on (Change) I go to Account Details.
    My Account Details still use the old blog for the website renalrd.wordpress.com. I want the new blog address to be: GrammyCanIhelpcook.wordpress.com. I've tried to change my Username to: GrammyCanIhelpcook, but I can't seem to do this. I don't want my old Username nannyd anymore. It tells me to return in several days.
    Old Username: nannyd
    OId blog address (website); renalrd.wordpress.com
    New Userrname: GrammyCanIhelpcook
    New blog address (website): GrammyCanIhelpcook.wordpress.com

    Why don't I have to enter my Password anymore. My Blog just pops up. Is this because it's connected to my email?
    Can you help me out?

    You can't change the URL right now because staff are working on that function. No idea when it will return.

    That's not possible. See what Staff (macmanx) states in this thread:

    Blog names are the same as usernames for the most part. Usernames can be turned into blog names, but blog names cannot be turned into usernames. http://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/cant-change-username-because-i-use-same-display-name?replies=5

    I want to change from herobiology to HeroToCollege.

    delete and let me start over
    change it - I'm corrently blocked from doing that myself
    or allow me to use my email twice.

    Why are we doing this group answer thing when we need direct access to the people who unlock accts?

    Don't delete anything! Deletions are irreversible at WP.com.

    The change username tool has been disabled by Staff and we Volunteers do not know when it will be re-enabled.

    It seems you can still go to your Profile page and change "Display name publicly as".

    OK, I'm going to try it again.
    Sad to start with a deletion but...
    I was able to start a new blog with the name I wanted.
    Now, how to I delete the old?

    And does anyone want to tell me the right format for a teacher to interact with students? I am pretty new at the blogging having only read a few. I'd love to have someone to copy! The person who had started me on this path had just deleted hers as she is only consulting now.

    Just go to the dashboard of the old blog Settings->Privacy and set it to Private. It's always useful to have a private blog, so you can tinker with widgets and try out embed codes and different themes without messing up your real blog.

    Hooray! A great answer. Thank you! Why didn't my friend know that? I was sorta drop in here and left to swim or sink.

    I found and successfully deleted the first attempt. I would have thought delete to be in managing my blogs but it was on the dashboard. I'll adapt.
