It may be that the version shown on the preview and used on your acquaintance's blog is slightly different from the wordpress.com version, and we may be unable to change it.
I can't think of a way off the top of my head to make one word in the header a different color from another with what we have to work with here. Maybe one of the CSS gurus knows...
