Charge on my Credit Card without permission

  1. I've just had a charge applied to my Credit card by WordPress without my permission. How are you going to resolve this?

    The blog I need help with is franksting.net.au.

  2. I assume it is for renewal of an upgrade. Staff can be reached by email support [at] wordpress [dot] com

  3. The Domain renewal is not due for another 4 weeks and is marked as outstanding on my account. I haven't asked to renew. It is illegal to apply renewals in this country without getting pre-approval.
    Trust has just gone out the window.

  4. Those answering questions here are Volunteers. We have nothing whatsoever to do with policy decisions made by Staff. This is what is stated in the Terms of Service:

    3. Payment and Renewal.
    Automatic Renewal.
    Unless you notify Automattic before the end of the applicable subscription period that you want to cancel an Upgrade, your Upgrade subscription will automatically renew and you authorize us to collect the then-applicable annual or monthly subscription fee for such Upgrade (as well as any taxes) using any credit card or other payment mechanism we have on record for you. Upgrades can be canceled at any time in the Upgrades section of your site’s dashboard. http://en.wordpress.com/tos/

  5. Domain auto-renewals are always billed a month early.

    If we billed domain renewals on the due date, a simple declined transaction could result in the loss of your domain and damage to your business or web presence.
