We just switched our theme from twenty-ten to chateau and are pretty happy with the new look and feel but one problem we noticed is that when we try to show posts in ascending order it does not work as it used to.

This used to work, now it just shows the homepage. Any thoughts on how to correctly show posts from the beginning in this new theme?

That will not work on a free hosted WordPress.com blog.

A blog is, essentially, a reverse chronological publishing tool. That cannot be changed here at WordPress.com. However, you can create a book-like structure if you wish. http://en.support.wordpress.com/write-a-book/
P.S. Your blog is displaying in posts in reverse chronological order as it should when I view it.
If you do not want all the posts to show on the front page, then you can create a static front page for your site, and also create a “blog” page for your posts to display on, but that’s optional.
