Chateau Theme - read previous articles section missing?

  1. When I originally switched to the Chateau Theme there were links to my previous articles at the bottom of my main page, but that section seems to have disappeared.
Does anyone know how I can turn it back on?
    Thanks,
    Michelle @ http://sweetsuite10.wordpress.com/

The blog I need help with is sweetsuite10.wordpress.com.

  2. This is not a option that we can turn off or on. I clearly see an "older posts" link on the bottom of the front page of your blog. http://sweetsuite10.wordpress.com/page/2/

I suggest that you reduce the number of posts appearing on your front page as it's far too long and each post contains large images. This slows down page loading time and also compels readers to scroll and scroll. Page loading time is a page ranking factor. Moreover recent testing demonstrates that visitors will wait only 3 - 4 seconds for a page to load and if they are faced with controlling, scrolling, scrolling they click out never to return. You can do that here > Settings > Reading
    Blog pages show at most__posts
    Click "save changes"

If you wish you can edit the posts and insert "the more tag" into them. That will provide readers with excerpts followed by Continue reading ยป links they can click to view the full post on its own page. http://en.support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/more-tag/

    Example here > http://thistimethisspace.com
Note that I also use the "Concise" archive style.

@Michelle: you turn it on by selecting the "Concise" Archive style in Appearance > Theme Options.

  4. Thanks - that worked :)

Thanks for wading in and sorting this..

    @ Michele

Note that I also use the "Concise" archive style.

I'm sorry I misunderstood you. I was not clear on what your were referring to and thought you might be asking about the "older post" navigation link. I didn't realize you meant the "concise" archive style. In addition to using the "concise" archives option, when you have a long post with many images in it you can insert "the more tag" into it as I described above.
    Best wishes with your blog.

  6. Hi. I switched to the Concise style and I see no change. Not only that, but after I switched to Concise, every widget in my sidebar dropped into the footer and no matter how many times I move them back, they won't stay up where I put them. Frustrated. :(

  7. @ourpragueblog: Your blog is not using the Chateau theme and you appear to have a different problem altogether. For the sake of organization, please start a separate topic and we'll take it from there: http://en.forums.wordpress.com/?new=1

  8. Yes, I know. I gave up on the theme about 15 minutes ago and switched to another. I've struggled with it for two months. It's just not worth it. It's a shame because it's really very nice.
