Chateau Theme will not change archive page style

  1. I love the new "Chateau" theme, but when I try to change the archive page style to "Detail" it stays on the "Concise" option. On the Theme Options page it shows that I have chosen and saved the "Detail" option, but it won't change on my actual blog. Is this a bug with the new theme? "Chateau" is exactly what I want and I'd like to keep it, but I really don't like the "Concise" option!

The blog I need help with is goingroundandround.wordpress.com.

  2. Your archive pages have changed - example:

  3. Oh, thanks. I guess I was confused.

  4. is there anyway to use the detailed option on the home page, I am not a fan of the consise format on the home page

  5. @going... the only workaround is to make every post a "sticky"

  6. @taralab1 - I tried Chateau because I liked the design, but just like you, I am not a fan of the concise format on the homepage -- which was a dealbreaker for me (I have since switched back to Enterprise). What do you mean exactly when you say "make every post a 'sticky' ?"

The answer is "yes" and there is no need to make any post a "sticky" post at all.The theme has an activated excerpt box. You can over ride that excerpt provided by the theme by using it.

On my blog I chose the "concise" format. I also close to insert "the more tag" into the latest post. The “concise” format displays only the title and the first 20 words from each post so that your readers may view your posts at a glance.” http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/chateau/

I choose “concise” and I copied the code from the HTML for the thumbnail image and the text teaser of the length that I wanted into the excerpt box below the editor box. In other words, I overrode the excerpt that's coded into the theme by using the excerpt box. . It was easy to do. http://en.support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/excerpts/

  8. Thanks, @timethief. Where do I find the HTML for a thumbnail of the image? It obviously doesn't work well to use the HTML for the image size used in the original post!

  9. I used a thumbnail size image in my post so this was not an issue for me. If it is an issue for you then after your create the post and before you publish it go to the bottom of the post, upload a thumbnail and copy and past the code from the HTML editor into the excerpt box, then delete the thumbnail image from the post. Copy and paste the teaser into the excerpt box and publish.

Or if you prefer open another tab and click new post to create a draft post you will be deleting, upload the thumbnail into it and copy the code from the HTML editor. Go to the first tab you still have open and paste the thumbnail code onto it. Go back to the draft and delete it. Copy and paste the teaser into the excerpt box and publish.
